so i got the thunderbolt a week ago and flashed the s-off and everything and got clockwork mod (coming from a dx so im pretty good at flashing roms) but now i have CM7 and it will not get a 4g signal. should i change it to cdma/evdo only or not because in the post it says not to. i may try it tommorow because in my home i ususally get 2 or 3 bars of 4g (detroit) but now there is no signal.

Did you flash the regular pre-alpha cm7 or this (cm7 thunderkang) CM7 THUNDERKANG - "I love the smell of KANG in the morning" Edition - IN CALL AUDIO! - xda-developers ?
If you flashed the regular you can try this one.
If they don't work you might like vanilla bean rom or tesla coil.
you have to be running CM7 test 4, which shows up as thunderkang test 3, here is the direct download link http://goo-inside.me/cm/mecha/rc/update-cm-7.0.0-RC0-Thunderbolt-KANG-signed-test3.zip. Flash GAPPS first from rom manager, after you flash the GAPPS go into rom manager and fix permissions (might not be necessary but just in case). Reboot then wait till your 3g turns green and switch it to the lte+evdo option, your 4g should turn on but it shows no reception. That is a bug your reception will appear when you make a call but as long as you 4g turns green your good to go
this is the one that i have. update-cm-7.0.0-RC0-Thunderbolt-KANG-signed-test3.zip. i dont know where the prealpha is. Is it any better?
oh and when i make calls it says im not activated and when i call *228 it wont work it just says problem activating

Your sim card will set everything up for you. Tbolt owners no longer need the *228 nonsense

An official release isn't out yet. The developer describes the current CM7 builds as a "pre-alpha". Some folks have jumped in and loaded the builds on their ThunderBolts and have had varying levels of success, but obviously this is not for everyone.
i had the same problem, the only suggestions i could find were to flash alternative radios.
the problem with that is that every radio i downloaded for CM7 failed the checksum during flash, so the flash aborted.
i checked the checksum on my laptop (via Terminal on Mac OS X) and it was good, but each time my phone failed the flashing via Clockwork. I tried each radio (six or seven) at least twice, so i gave up and switched back to DAS BAMF. I'll wait for the beta to come out...

Newest cm7? As of when? I flashed it the other day and didn't have any google apps. Market or Gmail. Then I seen that I need to DL and flash gapps from rom manager

I'm about to flash CM7 on my Thunderbolt and need to know where to get the proper Gapps zip for the Tegra 2 chipset; I did some google searching but only found a universal zip that I'm not sure will work. Thanks in advance for any help!
Edit: Turns out, the universal zip worked just fine.

You can download Gapps from Rom manager, it's the very last option in the downloads.
