Thunderbolt discontinuing soon?

Sadly, I am apparently told that either the 1.5 GHz dual core Snapdragon in the Rezound is of rather poor quality compared to Texas Instrument's 1.2 GHz dual core OMAP variety, or the Adreno 220 is poor compared to PowerVR. Even though Sense 3.5 is supposedly lighter on resource use than 3.0, the Rezound still tends to hiccup a lot with graphically intense live wallpapers. Not really bad... just disappointing.

The Nexus also has the lag with some of the live wallpaper

Sounds like maybe Sense and live wallpapers have not yet been optimized to take advantage of dual core processors. If HTC were smart, they would make Sense optional at boot up, then every phone would be a quasi Nexus (except for carrier bloat, which should be optional with ICS).

Thanks, Robrecht

On an amusing note: I thought it was almost laughable that there were people up in arms over the carrier "bloat" spotted on the Galaxy Nexus... that bloat being what appears to be a similar app to the iPhone's VZ Contacts Transfer and My Verizon... if that's bloatware worthy of any note, I hate to consider of what Blockbuster, CityID, Need for Speed crap, and Skype Mobile is worthy.

Agreed. I find it amusing that whatever some individuals don't use themselves they consider bloat. If they use it they don't consider it bloat. That is one thing I've got against the various ROMs that "eliminate bloat". I don't want to have to chase around looking for a way to side-load something that someone else thinks is bloat. The Google stuff included on Google phones is also considered bloat by some folks. In fact, I have clients that tell me "I don't want to sync with Google, I only want to sync with Outlook. How can I get rid of this Google stuff?" They think the Google stuff is bloat. Just a matter of preference. I don't know why some people get so worked up about it. Believe it or not, most folks do not buy an Andriod phone becuase they want to "join the Android movement". They just want a phone! Most people who buy Android don't even know what an operating system is. And they think Google is just a "home page".

This phone will be blown out soon for free at Verizon. It's been out for 8 months now, so it's dust in the wind. Why should this surprise anyone, that's a normal lifespan for a phone.

Personally, I consider bloat to be fourth-party software pre-installed on the phone... in other words it is not made by the manufacturer, the carrier, or Google. Its junk that Verizon gets a kick back to pre-install and make it not uninstallable. The fourth-party junk is used by a small percentage of people, and is largely useless even when used.

If and when I get a new one, the tbolt will either got to wifey to replace the dinc2 or via airplane mode and give to my daughter.

normal lifespan for the "normal" phones. this phone is not normal, if you didn't know already. I have been to three Verizon stores in KC since this post came up (not special trips, mind you) and they all still have the phone in stock, even though it is hard to find on display thanks to the NEW phones that have all just come out. as far as the sales reps go, they have heard nothing about discontinuing a phone that still sells pretty well. I would be shocked if it lasted a solid year, but NONE of us really know when it's going to be "discontinued".

FIVE DAYS TO TBOLT MANIA!!! :D
