Thunderbolt First Impressions/Reviews

I have read through many pages of this thread, so I apologize if I missed what I am about to ask a question on.

I have had the original Droid that came out with the keyboard. I have loved that phone for its computer-like features. (Not a technie, so I apologize if I am imprecise in communicating.)

However, I have HATED talking on that original Droid. I am tempted towards the Thunderbolt or Bionic, but my question for this forum...is the voice quality good on this phone? My old Droid was so bad, I have had 2 years of people telling me that could not understand me, that I needed a new phone and unable to hear half my calls. I could hear if I dialed a landline, but not another cell phone on any carrier. And I was forever disconnecting or placing my phone on mute (with my face:-[).

Can you easily talk on this phone???? Thanks in advance for any input,

I have no problem with voice quality. Also the phone has a sensor for when making calls. When the phone is placed near your face, the sensor shuts off the screen so you don't accidently press any buttons with your face.

It was a bit difficult in the holding of it on the first two to three calls, coming from an iPhone, but now I find it very easy to talk and use. I can hear everyone on the other end just fine, and actually, I have to adjust the volume lower than my previous iPhone. Also, I have yet to have any complaints on the other end of the phone when in a call, i.e. static, noise, volume, etc. I have yet (knock on wood) drop a call having made the switch to Verizon from at&t as well.

Absolutely.

I don't talk a lot on the phone, but the Thunderbolt has very decent voice quality.

If you need lots of volume, understand that at very high volume you'll get a good bit of distortion and clipping from the earpiece speaker, but it's crisp and clear for anyone with "normal" hearing. It's about as good as you'd expect from a teeny little earpiece speaker you find on all cell phones, and better than some.

The speakerphone speaker is quite good and crisp, reminding me of my Blackberry Curve 9300. It also works very well with my blutetooth headset and the sound is as good as I've come to expect from that headset.

As far as audio fidelity overall, I can easily tell the difference when someone calls me from a cell phone as opposed to a landline, and that hasn't been true of all cell phones I've owned. I won't call the fidelity "landline quality" because it ain't, but it's quite good all the same.

I haven't asked anyone about the quality of my voice, but I've received no complaints.

I did have one dropped call about a week ago, but cell phones don't work well inside my house (aluminum siding) and dropped calls are NOT unusual for me, sadly. I will say that the Tbolt seems to drop calls less often than my AT&T line used to, but that's comparing different phones AND carriers, and I'm sure my cell signal repeater explains a lot of my signal woes. Unfortunately, I simply have no alternative but to use a repeater of some sort.

its very easy in hand and i love working with it. the menu design is beautiful. the only thing that I exepted more was the tempo. I exepted to be faster with loading. I don't know maby it has to do with the line of my internet provider. sometime is fast and sometime not.

The weight of this phone is not bulky like I've read other users say. Feels fine in my hand. I like the kickstand for when I'm streaming my Google music or watching Netflix. I like the feel and overall look of it. I think the HTC Thunderbolt is very well built compared to the THREE Samsung Charges I went thru!!! SMH
I haven't talked a lot on the phone since having it for two weeks now, but the speaker and voice quality has been very loud and I haven't heard any complaints of distortion or being hard to hear. The other callers were loud and clear on my end. Music plays loud and my ringtones & notifications are nice and loud, too.
I had one dropped call Wednesday nite. The other party has a TB as well. I'm not sure if that was a glitch, but that happened, and when I was at work Wednesday, for some reason, my calls wouldn't go thru. I was on wifi and was able to get Data but my calls wouldn't go thru for some reason. I tried back to back but "Call Lost" kept showing up at the bottom of the screen. That has been the only time I've experienced that as well.

My signal has been fine. Even when 1x is in use, my data runs smoothly, unlike on the Charge - any activity would be slow. I luv having a GPS that connects at a decent amount of time again! I love the GB features and this version of Sense. I'd forgotten how much "some" of the Sense features I had missed, and with GB I honestly don't miss my Go Launcher! I was surprised, too because I was deadset on rooting this and flashing Sense 3.5! But I honestly have no reason to Root my phone at this time..

I love this screen! The way it looks in the videos doesn't give it justice, I think! I love the picture quality. Only recorded one 10-minute video but it looked nice to me and being able to turn on the flash made a difference since it was low lighting..

No CONSTANT REBOOTS or constant freezes or lags here unlike the "lovely" Charge! Only a few times has there been a delayed response while doing something but that's it! IDK if it's me or this phone or with all the TB, but the typing on the Swype KB or even GO KB, it seems like I really have to press the buttons down and like it's hard to type on sometimes..kinda hard to describe, but I can tell a difference from when typing on the Charge or the MyTouch 4G.

I can honestly say I see myself keeping this device for a long time as I did with the MyTouch 4G. I can compare the TB to that. I thought I needed a dual-core processor, could care less about ICS, but I'm completely satisfied with this device. Those defective Droid Charges put me thru so much hell...I kinda regretted not getting this from the beginning..but who knows, I might have gone thru a lot of issues other users exp'd when it first came out.

Battery Life: the first three days I was only getting 4-5hrs with only moderate usage. But I can get up to 11hrs on moderate usage now. It lasts me from when I remove it from the charger around 7:15/20 AM until I get home around 7PM. Once this week, I only got 7hrs and did have to charge it while at work. I also purchased the Rezound battery, which I got Wednesday, and the most I got out of it so far was over 14hrs and that was from last nite's charge until this morning around 11 AM Central time.

I haven't tried Tango or Skype yet, so I can't comment on those...Hope this has been helpful to someone...:)

Got my T-bolt on Thursday. Having a good time. Came from about 3 years of BB. It's different and fast. Been messing with it nonstop. Pretty soon I'll run out of things to do with a stock 'bolt. I'm on the latest version of Gingerbread, so I'll have to see about rooting.
For now, I'm just looking to get rid of bloat and look at hotspot options.

As of today, I have had my Tbolt(s) for one month. (my wife has one as well). and considering all of the "research" I did for almost six months, I'm very happy with my choice. the Good definately outweigh the bad, and as I have stated in another thread, I do not have "phone envy". Sure, I would love to have the newest phone, but is newest always better? for my hard earned dollar, the Tbolt is the best phone I can afford, and honestly, even without ICS, Is only a hair below a couple of the "new" phones.

i have NO issues with voice calling.

my TB rocks even more when i make phone calls in the car with my Alpine stereo with Bluetooth ;) :) O:-)

I got the Gnex when it was released and sold my tbolt. Used the gnex for about 5 months then sold it due to money issues. Got the tbolt again. I think I like the tbolt better than the gnex. Just does everything I need to, such a great phone.
