Having trouble sending and receiving MMS. It says something like "generic network....." and I can't send or receive. But, if I Restart my phone all the pictures show up automatically once it boots back up. WTF???

I'm having the same issue, only the pictures don't send out download after reboot. Tech support had me do reboot and sim/battery pulls. Now a ticket is open.

86 views, 1 response. Are we the only 2 having this issue?

I had this issue on my X. All I did was exit the sms app and go back into it. It seemed to work for me on that device. How is your network coverage when this is happening? It may be due to spotty 4G coverage.

I had the same issue with my Droid 2. It was something like their having but it also said insufficient data coverage or something. I was in a full 3G network and could never understand it. My friend with the Droid X has it happen once in a while too. I forgot all about that error though as I've never had it on the Thunderbolt.

I had one of the tech's ask me that on the phone, but I have pretty good coverage. I live like 25 minutes north of NYC and typically always have 3-4 bars.

Have tried rebooting a few times, battery pull, SIM card pull, exiting/re-entering app, clearing data, trying a different messaging app...

Can't seem to figure out what issue is. My internet is working fine, I continue to receive emails fine... just seems to be MMS.

Regarding the "data <something>" message you got, the thing to look for is this; when you are trying to send the MMS, does a 1x, 3G or 4G icon show on the notification bar right then? If not, the problem is the data connection.

Go into your messages settings, scroll to where it says MMS settings and make sure "auto-retrieve" is checked. You can also mess around with the priority settings, although I've never had to.

I have auto-retrieved checked... I've been in and out of settings and noticed that yesterday.... but its been checked the entire time.

When I try to send/receive an MMS message, I see the 3G icon show up in the top bar... even when I am on WiFi.

Thought I'd provide the outcome for this topic in the event anyone else sees it down the line...

As simple as it sounds, no one suggested to do a factory reset (VZW that is). I took it into the store and the first thing the guy did was a factory reset.

It works now.

I guess that's why those VZW sales reps make the big bucks! :D
