Thunderbolt Problems & Solutions Tracker + Battery Tips 8/13/11

People can't hear me a few calls a day. Not a problem with signal, that is fine and I hear them clearly. Not sure if I have a hardware problem or if a factory reset might fix or something. Anyone have this problem? At first I thought it was other people's connections, but it happens a half dozen time/day easy, no matter where I am....

I have that problem too!

I've exchanged the phone 1x so far because of this. It's maddening. I notice that the screen lights up and dims when I have it to my face, like the proximity sensor is coming on and off. Installed Screen Suite to see if that helps the issue...not had enough calls to determine its effectiveness.

Regardless...this should NOT be happening! And you're right, it's not a signal issue. They can hear me fine.
Also doesn't matter if I take phone away and put on speaker phone, they still can't hear me.

Since a lot of members aren't following the request I made in post #3 about questions, I will go ahead and allow them. Actually, I should of expected this, so no offense taken by my comment. Just do me a favor, please search for other existing threads, or start a new one, if you have a problem and are looking for a solution. You are much more likely to get answered in one of those, plus you are benefiting a wider audience. I will try to do my best to answer what I can, but due to time constraints, it might not be the most effective way to get help.

Thanks!

Are you maintaining post #1? If you are, then this (below) is NOT a fix.

Problem: Swype does not have an emoticon button nor does it automatically insert spaces in the messaging app.
Solution: With swype keyboard open, long press and select input method. Select other keyboard, same steps and select swype keyboard again. Had this same glitch on my EVO. Keyboard should work until next reboot.... Credit Imex99.

Reported Problem: TB specs advertise 8GB internal storage but available storage is 2.41GB.

I am having a problem with wifi at my house. When i turn the wifi on from the widget on my home page it never connects unless I go to settings>wireless & network and then check the wifi link. When I do that, it ALWAYS connects to my home wifi. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Is anyone having Mail issues? My mail, both google and yahoo, has trouble updating even when I open it. I also often get the "can't login" message, not even sure what to do there..

combining rooting and battery save help i tripled my battery life!

Must root! Thank you so much Cory

As per an email from HTC customer service. So if you are experiencing the hissing sound, log a complaint.

HTC Mobile Phones - Customer Service - E-mail Support

Jeff, as yet this has not been seen as a trend with HTC. every call and email is flagged by the model ofthe device and the issue. This information is then gathered by HTC to see if any trends are occurring. My suggestion is to turn the device off, remove the battery for 20 seconds, replace and turn back on. If this does not resolve the issue, you will need to perform a factory reset.

Factory reset is not a step to be taken lightly. It?ll permanently delete all your data and
customized settings, and will remove any applications you?ve downloaded and installed. Be sure to
back up any data and files you want to keep before you do a factory reset using HTC Sync.

Anyone have issues with their navigation? Use to love my DINC because the navigation worked so well so I expected the same from the Thunderbolt. I'm having issues where when I type in an address, it keeps showing "searching for GPS", sometimes it'll pick up and work, but sometimes it doesn't. Any tips to fix this??

Another thing I do to add to battery life is shut the screen off right away after using it instead of waiting for the timer to shut it down. I put this app on my phone called screen off and lock, great app, it gives you about 10 different ways for your screen to power down, have mine power down like the old screen tv's.
(ala Gingerbread))

listening to music

music app - When i am at work i listen to my music, and i have to put it on pause sometimes. If i then go to home screen for two long, text message while on pause, and even get a call it closes the music app. I have to go back in and reselect random play. Why is this?

Cory,

I see in your OP for this thread you talk about how a 500 or even 750 mAh charger won't keep up in the car if using the GPS. I bought that Motorola charger you posted rated at 1A and love it. It charges in no time, even when using the GPS.

I was looking at what mount to buy and really like Arkon car mounts. They make an all in one cig lighter holder and charging mount, rated at 850 mAH. Will that charge it while using GPS? Or, even keep up? I guess, I don't wanna lose charge if worst case.

no tips to fix it, however I di have a general tip. You have to wait for it. I have a si ilar issue on my thunderbolt and on my gfs thunderbolt. It always works, it is just that it takes a really long time.

Anyone having trouble with Slacker Radio often being buggy/not loading?

My TB has been rooted for a week+ now and this issue just started today.

Problem: My display will not turn off after a set amount of time- whether it is 15, 30, 60 secs etc. I've tried rebooting/batt pull and issue is still here.

I used titanium this morning (3am) to back up my phone. Is there something that can cause this within titanium?

This issue always happened on my DX (rooted w/ titanium) and it would go away randomly..

Solution: ??

Cory quick question. Or anybody that has the answer the power bottom we know sucks, but mine is bad. My first TBolt was ok. Is there anything we can get or do to make it stick out more???

i rooted my tb almost a week ago, it was going fine, getting a good 12 hours out of my battery, but the last 2 days ive been only getting 9 or less hours, is there any way to see what is draining the battery besides the battery info?

Wow, nice thread, Cory.

Will pass this on to a friend who just got the TB. He loves it and lives in a 4G area but complains about battery life.

Curious:

Does this phone need to be "bump charged" like the Incredible? Is that an HTC "thing" ?
