Thunderbolt Review (Coming Soon)

I'm probably just going to pitch in and get an extended battery if battery life is bad or a cheap back up battery off Amazon.

I'm really curious about how good the new camera sensor is, cause this will be my first phone with an 8mp camera

I'm horrified of the battery life that I am most likely going to have to deal with on this phone... coming from using a LG Voyager that will last about 3 months on a charge.

Less battery life = frequent charging that will result in a ruined battery?
I'm just thankful that as opposed to devices like the Inspire at least we can use an extended battery.

Overall I really love it. However, a bit disappointed at the battery. Hopefully tomorrow I will give it real world use and be able to more comment more after tweaking for better battery life. Stay tuned.

Keep in mind it takes somewhere between 4-6 full charge cycles to condition the battery. When I first got my Eris, the battery went from "eh" to "totally fine" after about my 4th or 5th full charge. I don't think we'll really know the true LTE drain and stock battery life until the end of the weekend for most.

New battery technology doesn't work that way any more in this day & age. You can charge batteries a little, a lot, frequent, or not... won't develop battery "memory" like they used to years ago.

I don't believe the charge cycles do anything either. Your Eris probably for better cuz you didn't use it much. Batteries these days don't need that training of cycles. If I can find the article on that I'll post it

RubyTuesday: can you tell us if the Verizon NFL app comes preinstalled? I've seen some youtube videos of it there but was wondering if the final version has it? If it's not on the device, can you find it in the market and install it?

Thx!

Okay cool I was just wanting to make sure it's not blocked from the Thunderbolt for some reason. ATT likes to block certain apps that are in the market from certain devices.

I consider the NFL app a major perk I get for moving to Verizon. I had a hacked version on My Nexus for awhile but Verizon kept updating it so as to make it not work. Now we just need to get the strike over with so we have something to watch.

I tested the speed multiple times in multiple rooms. Generally speaking, even with 1 bar in the basement, I was averaging around 10Mb/sec down and about 25Mb/sec up. Not sure why the upload is so crazy fast. My guess is Verizon will throttle this soon. Testing the Mobile Hotspot using my new iPad 2 with wifi, I was seeing an average of 3-4Mb down and 5-8Mb up.

Regarding the upload speeds:

I found the below quote attached to the following YouTube video:

YouTube - Verizon HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE on www.Speedtest.net

"Also note that using the speedtest app from the marketplace will give false results. The applications has issues working with the new qualcomm chipset and will typically give upload speeds up to 2-3x that of the download. The browser method is a better measure of actual speeds"

The app support on Verizon is amazing, I used the NFL app religiously while the game was on and I was at school waiting on my classes or at work.

Is this phone unibody aluminum? Some people have said it is (whole thread about it) but nodody actually has the phone to see but you, so what on it is aluminum?

Great information so far...

RubyTuesday... can you tell us where your blog is???
