Thunderbolt Thursday Waiting Room HERE!

It's my understanding that only Verizon company stores can do one year contracts.

Thanks for the info! I am in a bit of a pickle... the Wirefly pricing of $199 (no tax, free shipping) is extremely attractive. This beats the socks off of Verizon's pricing of $249, especially since some states charge tax on the full retail price... plus there is the additional upcharge on the device for a 1 year contract.

If I went with Wirefly I would save more $$ on my family's phones. The downside is I would be locked into a 2 year contract. Ugh

Here's an excerpt from the press release. Notice the bit about the LTE data plan and the Hotspot feature:

With the ThunderBolt by HTC, customers will need to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and a 4G LTE data package. Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 monthly access and an unlimited 4G LTE data plan start is $29.99 monthly access. Mobile Hotspot allows users to connect up to eight Wi-Fi-enabled devices to the nation’s fastest wireless network via an application available on the ThunderBolt by HTC.

Mobile Hotspot will be included through May 15 for no additional charge. After May 15, customers may choose to activate Mobile Hotspot for $20 for 2 GB of data per month. Customers can track their data usage by downloading the My Verizon app available in Android Market or by logging on to their My Verizon accounts online at https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...w.verizon.com/b2c/myverizonlp/&token=zBhsvrLp.

Sweet... with my NE2 credit it will be 199. And Gazelle lets me trade in my phone for $173 :) Done deal

On a side note I just called my verizon store and they said no, its not coming on thurs. I was like verizon just tweeted it! LOL. No apppointments, first come first serve.

if that's the case--looks like they've not said anything to differentiate data plans (being increased or specific to LTE)---so it looks like it would be reasonable to assume they'll still be the standard $29.99 unlimited. woot. that clears up my fear & hesitation

The press release specifically states:

"Nationwide Talk plans begin at $39.99 monthly access and an unlimited 4G LTE data plan start is $29.99 monthly access."

So for now there aren't any different data plans.

So no reservations at local verizon stores.

Called two local corporate stores just a couple minutes ago. Both said no reserving a phone, of course one also said that the bolt wasn't even announced yet. Gotta love that employees are up to date.:)

yes, i saw that & read it. the "start at 29.99" caught my eye.

kind of weird to say it's unlimited if it starts at one price. but that's for another thread.

I think we all knew that we would know before any VZW customer Service employee would.

It looks unlikely. I would have assumed they would have included that in your announcement this morning. Certainly possible with a subsequent announcement but unlikely.

is verizon going to be taking pre orders soon to order from online?

Since it was not in the press release then I doubt it. I remember reading somewhere that vzw starts taking online orders for new phones at 3 am ET on the day of the launch. You'll get free overnight shipping so you should have it on Friday.

I think I may do that since I may not be able to step away from my desk long enough to get one at the store. Would like to be one of the first to have the phone, but i'd hate to wait until the evening and find out they are sold out.
