Install Launcher Pro, hide the bloatware icons. Problem solved.

I'm down loading the update as I type - I will be your guinea pig. It takes about 25 minutes it says.
I'm on broadband WiFi so, maybe faster?

Background info:

I bought the phone on day one.
I've never had the reboot problem.
GPS sucks.
Audio on the video recording sucked until previous fix - works OK now.
