ThundeROM and App2SD

I had been using app2sd with thunderom 1.5. What are the issues with moving apps to SD?

Well first let me say this should of just been asked in the rom thread so to keep the forums clean.
Here's a couple reasons.
A)ThundeROM never fully enabled apps2sd there was always a file missing to keep it from fully working.
B)WE(ksmith and me) both said several times that apps2sd is not supported in the rom.
C) I know how to set up apps2sd and how it should/could function. Every since releasing v1.4,I hav personally tested apps2sd fully functioning and it does not work properly. It seems like iot does even appears that it does. Here's the kicker that i tried to stress to everyone yesterday when i posted about this in the rom thread. Sooner or later,(sooner) your sdcard will fail. There won't be anything you can do but replace it. I know a lot of people say hey thats a risk that you take well i took the risk and in less then a month period of time i killed 5 sdcards, not cheap sdcards cards that were class 4,6,10. We won't take a risk like that. We care about everyone phones and sdcard. If it would of only killed one sdcard i would of fully enabled it and added it to the features of the rom.

With all that said I don't think it's wise for anyone to use apps2sd on the optimus until things are worked on more and made a lot more stable. If you or anyone wants to add it then by all means feel free to do as you please, just remember i warned you and that don't report any issues until you remove apps2sd.To me the risk is not worth it in anyway,5 good sdcards isn't cheap to replace maybe one not 5 tho.lol

Is the issue with DarkTremor's a2sd, Froyo Native ap2sd, or both?

Thanks

Neither of those play a roll in it. DarkTremor's a2sd is solid and i use it on roms for other phones.
Its just how the Optimus is set up,i have a few ideas but it will take time to test and make sure that everything is okay. Im trying to think of everyone else and that nobody wants their sdcard to die. I will tell everyone when/if i do get it all set up to work the way it should that everyone that wants to run apps2sd is going to need a class6 or higher. Other wise you would see so much lag it wouldn't be funny.

Just to be clear, we're talking about using some other program to force apps over to the SD card, right? Am I still OK using the "Move to SD" button in "Settings->Manage Applications"?

Yeap your all good to use that it's built into android. We're talking about a set of scripts that move all that apps installed in data/app to a ext partition on the sdcard.

If we have used the stock Froyo ROM to move apps to the SD card, before moving to ThundeROM should we go in and move them back to internal phone memory? Will that leave and ext partition on the card taking up space, and if so, should we copy data off, reformat it in the phone and move data back?
Thanks.

Well, never mind. Just saw the previous question and answer.

So, do not use the market app app?sd then? Only use stock mover? Seems app2wsd free uses stock group mover to me

I think, but i could be wrong almost all of them apps all they do is try to force as much of the app as they can to the sdcard. Which basically we have the rom set up to do that.
The problem comes when you either boot into recovery,or with a pc.
An format the sdcard with a ext 2,3,or 4. If you haven't done that then it won't hurt anything.

There is the issue, I have my card formatted to ext4. FAT32 and pop it in then?

EDIT-That fixed it, FAT32 on a single partition.
