There is a new thread at XDA reporting that Verizon will be announcing tiered data in a few days. It doesn't say whether or not those who have purchased the TB will be grandfathered in or not.

Get those fans turned on because stuff is gonna start hitting them soon!

EDIT: the title should have read capped data

Unlimited 4G ending on Thursday - xda-developers

Um... it SPECIFICALLY mentions the Thunderbolt AND says we will be grandfathered...

I just learned tonight that as of Thursday, 3 days from now, 4G data plans will be capped.

The new cap will be 5GB. Pricing overage is not specified just yet, I would assume the standard $10/GB overage.

This is for any NEW customers and any upgrades done AFTER this day. Anyone who already has a TBolt is grandfathered in (myself included). Spread the word, and let your friends/family know should they need a truly unlimited plan.

I would expect an announcement tomorrow sometime. Just wanted to let you guys know.

There are 100 different ways Verizon could force people to change their plans and not grandfather anyone. Some say it would be a PR nightmare, but in the end, everyone would let it slide and pay up. I think Verizon will leave the early adopters alone (There's really not that many, they sold more iPhones than Bolts and you know how the iPhone sale was a flop) until renewal time. I just don't see the sense of going to tiered data for Verizon. Especially with an LTE network. Faster data = more data, and 5GB isn't much. I personally use way more than that every month on both the WiMax and the HSPA versions on 2 different carriers. If I was on one carrier only, I'd be using 12-15GB a month. Verizon should tier it to at LEAST 10GB for 29.99 and $5.00 a GB over that. No, they're going to try and rape the customer instead if it happens.

A Contract is a Contract......but after your 2 years are up, you are fair game for the tiered pricing. But hey thats 2 yrs from now.LOL
