time stamp vs app download date

[Android Central Question]

so i have a gf that said she was using the whatsapp temporarily because her gf was traveling out of the country and this app worked, where as her gf phone texting could not. Anyway..i asked her if she was still on it and she said she hadnt been no. I didnt ask her if she unistalled it...or just stopped using it. So months later, i had forgotten all about it. My friend from out of state asked me to use this app thats so fast, and it was whatsapp...so i download it..and i see my gf come up as a user....didnt think too much about it....then i seen her last time stamp was in may...which added up because that was roughly the time period her gf was away. Then i clicked on her profile...and looked into it. There is said by her info. "hey there! im using whatsapp, june 10. puzzling...how could her last time stamp say a previous month..but her info states june 10th. anyone enlighten me.

btw its a android...and you have to go to the contact upper right corner to the 3 dots click on View contact to get the info. Im assuming this info is when you joined or downloaded the app. Whats strange is the time stamp is a month before (may) than when it said she joined whatsapp on june 10. how could that be?

ive looked at my other contacts that are using the app...and there joining date is inline with their last seen time stamp....only hers is *** backwards.

Since she didn't uninstall the app, it's still periodically syncing. Her 'Last Seen' CAN be one date (last time she actually opened it), but since the app syncs messages and contact data (your joining Whatsapp, for instance, if she has your phone number in her contacts) in the background, her profile status can still show a different date, especially since Whatsapp resets the status periodically or with an app update (which, again, she might be doing even without ever opening the app again).

okay, kinda makes sense I guess. Another friend of mine with a iphone also has my GF number in her phone and where as my droid only says the date june 10th as her "log on date".... not last seen mind you.

my friends iphone says a exact date and time. 12:32 am at night. So your saying this could be a update sync? that changed her joined whatsapp date.
Also...when my gf was at my house on this date...there was to no wifi at my place. cant her whatapp sync without wifi?

...keep in mind this was the 10th of june....i didnt join whatsapp till the 23rd. So it wouldnt of sync'd because of me on the 10th. But i get what your saying it could be a possibility

Just odd, out of the 18 contacts in my phone that are using whatsapp...all there timelines add up. joined april 15 2018....last seen may 12th...ect. My gf;s is the only one that isnt in "sync" time wize.

so you think this is from her still having the app installed..but not using it . Hmmmmmm
