Time to replace battery?

Recently I've noticed the performance my of my s7 edge has degraded. Apps are opening much slower than they used to and the phone is not able to keep them open in the background, even with only 5 apps open. On top of that I've noticed my battery drains incredibly fast, about 10 to 15% an hour. Also when charging, my phone would jump from 85% to 100% charge sometimes as shown below.

I've tried resetting and factory resetting my phone with no success. I have also tried a battery calibartion by letting it drain and then charging it and no success either.

Has this happened to anyone else or just me? Is it the battery that needs replacement or time to upgrade to a new phone?

Sounds like the battery has reached the end of its natural life. Entirely your call to replace the battery or the phone. You still have a state of the art device there and battery will be the cheaper option. However... With the S9 coming out soon, you will get great deals on the S8....

Charging to 100% is worse for the battery than discharging to 30% - that could be what led to early failure. (But discharging to under 30% also leads to early failure.)

S8's have $300 off right now from samsung, but with that said, your battery replacement won't cost nearly that. If you still like the phone and all your having is battery issues, I'd probably go for that.

Technically it's not early as the S7 is about 2 years old though.

But yeah, the OP could weigh options on getting an S8 or a new battery. Or I bet the S7 can be traded in for discounts on the S9.

The odd jumping about in battery state is certainly the sign of a dying battery. However, that doesn't necessarily explain the lagginess and inability to keep apps in memory.

Check battery usage by app and see if you have recently introduced a battery hog into the app family. It won't fix the "85% to 100% jump" or any possible shutdowns at >0%, but it can certainly help with battery life!
