Previously, I owned a BlackBerry Tour. I grew accustomed to setting my display to passcode lock after one hour, and I frequently just used the display lock button to turn the screen off (like the power button on Android).

Now, on the Nexus S, the only way I can figure out to use the PIN lock is to either lock the screen with the PIN immediately when the display goes off, or to not use the PIN lock at all.

Does anyone know if there's a way to turn the screen off with the power button (or after a minute via timer as it's set now), but to not have it actually PIN lock for a longer period of time? Thanks!

I love root beer. (and nobody said root to begin with?)

On most ROMS, what you're looking for is right in the same menu where you set the pin lock. For some reason it is missing in our current version. Of course you can root and use CM7, which I know for sure does it, but I don't want to tick off j_grouchy. So the answer is 'currently no'... unless there's an app that adds it.

I'd rather not root the phone (at least not just yet). I guess I'm just a bit surprised there isn't an app to do that, as even without rooting, I'm amazed at just how customizable this phone is.

I downloaded the Trial version of Delayed Lock and it seems to work fine. I set it to enable pw in 5 minutes after i turn off the screen.. and it works! I might buy this, its so annoying to have to input pw every couple minutes if you're texting back and forth.

On a side note.. You know what's really silly is the phone's stock version of the time delayed before auto locking has a a huge gap between 2 mins and 10 mins. There's no 3,4,5,6, mins. lol. So dumb in my opinion.. not even 5 mins! lol. .
But its still anoying that everytime you press power, and press it again, you always have to enter the pw pattern/pin.
