Ting (a newish sprint based MVNO) recently announced that you can bring approved Sprint devices to their network. The Optimus S was one of those. I use my Opti S as a pure WiFi only device.
As a more socially active High School student, I'm finding out that there are times when I need cell service. Ting uses a pay only what you used model. For me this is the most affordable option for me. I was hoping that I could activate my phone on the network then pay for a plan, but sadly no that's not how it worked.

I think if anyone wants to give it a shot and try it out this is a great choice. I mean they include free tethering and a bunch more stuff.

One more note, looking in more of what you do to activate your device on their network, it's just a simple PRL update once they have your MEID, and some mms server address changes. So this is legal and is no where near flashing.

(Someone please correct me if any of this info is wrong! Thanks)

I activated an LG Optimus S and an LG Marquee on Ting. Very easy to do.

I did this with an Optimus S and so far all is well. I did have trouble updating the Market App to the new Google Play but other than that not too shabby.
