Tiny font when booting into recovery?

Still running 2.1 on my Incredible. I decided to take a look at the recovery screen just to see what it was like. While I had read about holding down home + power buttons, that didn't work for me - I had to hold down camera + power. Anyway, I get this white screen with some menu choices which I could hardly read - teeny tiny font Is this normal? I have one of the pop-out magnifiers at home I will have to use if I am going to try rooting this, or I will end up with a brick for sure
