[TIPS] NEW - Pre-rooted 1.1.0 update/disable 1.1 auto update (and keep root)

I can't seem to install the 1.1. In clockwork recovery v3.0.0.5 it gives an error:
"Can't open /sdcard/sideload_update_1-1.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted."

I tried new downloads of the same zip, but get the same error.

Any ideas?

This may sound stuipd, but i was having the same problem and realized that i didn't put the update.zip in the root of my sd card, but the root of the nook drive.

Once I put it on the sd card, no problems at all.

I'm sure doing this at 2am contributed to my problems as well.

Up and running and have honeycomb on sd card as well!!

Also you could have a bad file. If it keeps failing, delete and re-download.

Worked like a charm. Only thing I found a issue with is, TiBu thinks it doesn't have su perms. removed Tibu and forgot it from su, reinstalled and no go. Not a biggie. Thanks!

1.1 update

Being somewhat computer savy and not a complete idiot, I would just like to publicly thank the folks here who have helped the nook color community. I went through the steps given and in short order, I got the green "n". Everything else seems to be just like it was before. I checked the software version and sure nuf, it said 1.1. My wife also thanks you.

I rooted my NC with auto-nooted 2? from 1.0.1, I have not updated to 1.1.0, for some reason it just never updated. Do i have to unroot before I update to 1.1.0 and then reroot with auto-nooter 3.0.

i flashed this firmware, everything works fine, but i have problem synching with my google account (it cant establish a reliable data connection)
wifi is connected, i can surf via browser so its not a problem

Same problem here... not sure what the issue is but it worked okay earlier.

i think this works if you have problems with logging to market place

1 At the Android Welcome Screen skip Sign In.
2 Enable Location Services when given the option.
3 Connect to Wifi and launch Youtube from "Extras".
4 Click the Menu button (The one RIGHT of the Up Arrow).
5 Select "My Channel" and Login using your Gmail Account.
6 Exit Youtube and Launch Gmail from "Extras".
7 Sync your Gmail Account and Exit. (If it fails to sync that is fine.)
8 Open up Market and Accept Terms and Service.

never mind on the last read button. rebooted and it stopped working

The "last book read" button works for me after I installed the 1.1 update on my rooted NC, even after I've rebooted. Sometime I have to press it a couple of times, but it goes back to the last Nook book I read. (Now if it only took me back to the Kindle book I'm actually reading now, but that would be a lot to ask.)

I installed youtube, logged in, pulled up gmail and it's trying to sync. it then force closes.

opened market app and says "server error" - close or retry. retry over and over again without success.

By the way, I wonder if not connecting to google for market is due to using the 1.0.1 file that says it's "pre-rooted" and then flashing 1.1.0 rooted.

I actually believe the sticky thread that has the 1.0.1 pre-rooted is actually just stock non-rooted. So if you flash the 1.1.0 rooted over the non rooted, i think this is why I and others are having errors.

I am now trying to root the 1.0.1 first and then flash 1.1.0 rooted to see if this fixes it.

**update: nope didn't work. rooted on 1.1.0 and youtube now FC, gmail works, but market says server error. It's like it doesn't acknowledge my wifi (but everything else does).
