Tired of my HTC One

Re: Tired Of my HTC ONE

My one wasn't that bad but it needed to be plugged in by 3:00pm everyday. Finally decided enough was enough and got a g2 two weeks ago. Awesome battery life. Easily goes two days without a charge and surprise...it doesn't lose any charge overnight while sitting idle unlike the one.

fast boot disabled solved the issue of the one losing power overnight, also a complete hard reset after any Android update eliminates the issue. One issue I have after a reset which I do every 2 mths and then restore what I need is that today I can not turn nfc off, I go into settings and move the slider to off, I exit and when i check again it is on. trying to solve.

personally I dont really think their is any better Android phone out now, the one is still plenty fast and I get a full days use out of it and thats hard use.

Yeah i dont mind doing whatever.I just get tired of getting 4 or 5 hours.Idk why 4g is on,it never goes off.The only time it changes is when I have lte.

Use an app like GSam to view the sytem Kernel Wakelocks. Chances are you have a system task that is waking up the phone constantly which sucks down your battery because the phone can't go into deep sleep.

My battery usage looked like yours with Android System seemingly running away. It would be at 80%+ use and my phone was dying within seven or eight hours with limited use. Sure enough, I checked the Wakelocks and for whatever reason, my WiFi router at home was constantly polling my One keeping the phone from going into deep sleep the entire time. Turned off WiFi when at home for now and my battery life is back to normal: 18 hours regular use and longer with overnight standby.

So android os shouldnt be that high?

It usually only that high for me if the phone sits idle for a while after taking it off the charger. It's not necessarily bad that it is the highest usage because everything that makes the phone a phone falls under "Android OS" and it's always active.

But I'd say with those other apps so low and the phone losing 60% of battery in four hours that you have something along the lines of the wakelock issue I experienced. Or perhaps you're in an area with bad cell coverage?

That is huge drain for just 15 minutes of screen time.
You can press on "App Usage" and check out what eats up your battery.

I noticed that on my sisters htc via Att has both icons showing all the time, but my sprint one doesn't. Who is your provider?

When I went back in the app I accidentally reset it but i clicked on app usage and took a screen shot.Isnt the temp kinda high too?

Not sure if it was maybe a glitch or what but ive been using my phone for almost 15 mins and its still on 100%.Brightness on full, wifi on,and the 4g is still up there (when wifi is on).Hopefully this is working.

That's the screen I was referring to, but if you accidentally did a reset then it's no help. But you can use it to understand if anything is amiss.
Full brightness will drain your battery.
I find that the One is too bright anyhow, so I keep my brightness almost at the low end. Only when outdoors I increase it.

I'm happy to hit 4hrs

Htc ones battery sucks! Not sure if its just how the phone manages apps or what but my girlfriends phone can go 2 sometimes 3 days on one charge and she leaves bt and wifi on with her screen brightness full.If i didnt like this phone so much i would trade it,im trying to wait for the "next big thing" haha

Its probably just cause it has a 2300 mah battery. I mean it works for me most of the time I get through the day with close to 4 hours screen on time. Your girlfriend has a g2 which has a bigger 3000mah battery. Also its hard to compare battery life since your gf is a different user than you, so usage will differ which will affect battery life one way or the other. It could be your are just a heavier user, combined with the smaller battery
