Question I DL the app and it keeps asking me to go into my settings applications and click on unknown sources. But I don't see that setting.

Check out this thread: forum.androidcentral.com/t-captivate/23945-non-root-sideloading-fix.html
for loading "unknown sources" apps (copy and paste link into browser, the shortcut I created was giving errors).

But I don't think that will help with titanium backup. I'm not too familiar with the machine, though, because I don't have AT&T.

I'm not too familiar with AT&T, but I thought all apps could be side-loaded (thanks for correcting me). I'm moving this over to ROMs/Hacks since TB requires root. How are the rest of you installing TB?

You don't have the option to select that setting, but you can still use TiBu to back everything up and restore data only, meaning you would have to re-download the apps from the market, but can use TiBu to update the data that you had. There are ways around this - if you are already rooting your phone, just download any of the Cognition ROMs - they already have sideloading enabled. Or follow this guide (requires SDK):

How to Enable Sideloading of Apps on Captivate - Android Forums

No apps can be side-loaded but Titanium backup requires it for when you go to restore your backups. Titanium saves all the apk files and when you go to install them back in, they are considered outside sources and it does it within the application so more than likely the side-loader won't do the trick.

Does anyone have AT&T and rooted? Maybe they can set it straight for all of us.
