To activate sim with Verizon network, I have to enter Verizon phone's IMEI on website?

I don't have unlocked smartphone but it's not sold by Verizon.
And I wanna use StraightTalk with Verizon network.

so I conceive that I enter hereabouts Verizon Phone's IMEI to activate with Verizon network,
and I insert activated sim to my smartphone.

BUT I have one apprehension.
Activated Straight talk SIM will only work on phone which is associated IMEI phone?
