Corey, Been with T-Mobile for a long time, love their service and plans. I live in a very very fast HSPA+ area getting sick DL speeds. (During day 7.5 - 12 mb down and 1.7 up) on T-Mobile Also live in the Verizon LTE area where I get even faster speeds. I have just recently picked up the Thunderbolt and must say I love the phone. I do have some problems with it like everyone else and I know Gingerbread will probably cure them all. I jumped on the Thunderbolt right now because of the data plans will be changing very soon and wanted to get on their great data plan and more important the update promised is long time coming. My question is very simple, sure it is, I have 2 weeks to decide on keeping the Thunderbolt, do you think the update will come before this time period is up? I need a good solid working device for work and want to get the newest update before I root this thing.
PS My power button is about level with top of device, is this normal or should I send it back, other then that the phone is flawless, besides the bugs, this is a killer phone. Listen to your podcasts all the time and I know you have a relationship with Verizon, I think.Sorry for the long story I wrote.
Thanks,
Vinny :-\

No one really knows when the update is coming so your guess is as good as mine. If your going to root there is no need to wait for the update rooted users are now enjoying GB Roms and Sense 3.0. After the update they will need to update the rooting process so you might have to wait a while.

My power button doesn't stick out to much and other users have said the same, BAMF roms has the option to wake your phone using the volume rockers which make it much easier.

I doubt seriously that GB will come within the next 14 days. I'd guess 4-8 weeks (sorry, that's my guess).

All the power buttons are very close to the case. As long as it works, don't worry. It's normal. Don't make the mistake of forcing it when you push on it and possibly damage it. Just a normal push should do. If you're connected to the charger and the phone is off, just a quick push will start the phone. If you're not connected to the charger you have to hold it down a few seconds before it starts. All normal. I think some people remember the quick push working while they where connected to the charger and then later when they are not, they do a quick push, it doesn't start, so they push very hard (forcing it) because they think something is wrong. But it's normal to have to hold it a few seconds if you're not connected to the charger (gently). IOW, be careful not to damage it by jamming it in with your fingernail, hard.

There (still!) is not another phone on VZW that I would prefer over the ThunderBolt.

Thanks guys for the response, agree the Thunderbolt IMO is the best phone on Verizon. Next thing is to root.
