To Pen or Not To Pen from a Note User

as a female who wears her nails long, I do almost everything with that S pen. I also use S Note to keep a running budget on a hidden home screen. I play games with it and like I said.. everything. Not even sure I remember how to type without it
That makes sense

I'm not concerned about the smaller battery. I'm pretty sure Samsung know what they're doing by putting a smaller battery in. Because I'm a power user I have a fast charger here a charger there a charger everywhere.

I'll be okay with a battery case if Samsung releases an IP68 rated wireless charging battery case with the Note 8 this year like they did with the Note 7 last year.

I work outside 10 hours a day so water resistance is really important to me.

The latest render from evleaks shows that the Note 8 looks exactly like an S8+ with an S pen. It even has the Bixby button in the exact same spot as the S8+.

That doesn't look like an S8 anymore than Samsungs other phones, it's their design language. It's more square in shape if you look at it next to an S8. Might as well say the LG G6 and V30 are identical to an S8 just because they look similar.

I know some of us are hardcore Note fans. As I am. But more and more I am questioning this taller/narrower direction. I just don't get it.

Samsung is making their elite phones like sausages now? All the same width just taller by 1/4" to 1/2"+?

I stopped by the VZW store to check out the S8 Plus and put it next to the S8 and it's simply just a tad taller version. Looking identical with the same exact width. My phone was a good 1/2"+ wider.

And I don't care for taller phones. Tallness doesn't provide me with usable screen real estate. Wider does.

So, I would have never considered the S series but looking at S8 and Plus side by side and am wondering why do I even want that 1/4" space on top on the Plus? What's the point of it?

So, anyway, will see what Samsung will do with Note 8, but so much of it has already leaked.

The Samsung rep was in the VZW store recently and had the S8+, which I loved. He was touting the theory that their taller designs make them easier to use one-handed.

Its true that's taller but he would be more correct saying narrower is why its easier to hold.

Right, that's what I meant. Just didn't come out right on the keyboard. :) The S8+ is a lot of phone but it's easy to hold. But I have big hands so most are easy to hold to me. Personally, I liked the taller viewing area on the S8+.

Its a note. Meant to be held in one hand while the other uses the stylus.. why does it have to be one handed again? I want wider and taller :( lol

I think the narrow design feels better to some people. I myself have a V20 and usually use both hands.

True. I hate these "tall phones. I don't see the hype with all the usable screen estate being touted. Slightly wider makes more sense IMO. Also the Note series are truly no longer distinctive.

Samsung S9 will have the dual lens camera as well. Although I am a Note fan, but am curious what it would be like not to carry around such large phones anymore. I may wait for the S9. Not even plus just keep it light and small. :)

First will seriously look at the Note 8 when it comes out, but by that time the S8 will be old, so wouldn't make sense to get it. S9 release is just a short few months after Note 8 hits VZW and will have all or most of innovations in Note 8 if there are any. :)
