To widget or not to widget, that is the question.

I've been on the Android train a long time now. I've downloaded stuff that has widgets and added them before with other phones.
But, now..I find simpleness being more attractive.
Example: Calendar widgets. Really? Do I need to add a widget for that? I just have a shortcut to the Jorte calendar on my home screen and touch that when I need to see/schedule my calendar.
Actually, I just realized I don't have any widgets at all. That's a first. I'm sure this awesome phone CAN run multiple widgets. Not knowing which ones take up how many resources though, is it worth it to have all these little widgets running?
And the widgets take up screen real estate. I mean by the time you scroll over through all these 5 or 6 screens to get to a huge widget...you can just tap the shortcut.
I have three screens of shortcuts to apps I use and that's it. Now, there are a few folders (like "tools" for example that hold shortcuts to calculator/stopwatch/etc).
I do have a weather app, battery app that run in the bar.

Overall, I guess I'm saying:
Even though the Android phone CAN run these multiple and beautiful widgets, should we?
Just a thought.
Some are cool though. ;)

I run the Beautiful Widgets "Small Weather" widget which displays the time and weather on my home screen. Other than that, I don't use any Widgets because I've never seen the point. Simple and clean looks so much better.

My Widgets are:
-Minimalistic Text on the homescreen
-Facebook & Twitter on my "social" screen
-Into Now & Volume Control+ on my "media" screen
-TuneIn, Retro Clock, Battery % and Missed It! on my WidgetLocker screen
