I know G3s are known to have wifi connectivity issues... I've dodged the bullet up to this point. Today wifi in my house cut out... never happened before. One minute it's fine... five seconds later it's off and won't come on. Tried everything. Reboot wifi router even though all other devices in house are doing fine... pull battery in G3. Reboot. Settings...Wi-Fi... Forget Network. Search and reenter password and connect. Once in a while this will be successful... majority of time it does nothing.

I'm rooted mainly due to wanting to take all the At&T trash off the phone. D850 running 4.2 kitkat.... never updated. Any help would be appreciated because right now I'm close to throwing it in the lake.

Do you also have problems on other wi-fi networks as well?

Plus my battery seems to be depleting at a very fast rate today with no significant phone use.

I'm looking at status using Wi-Fi Analyzer. See neighborhood wifi networks popping up... but after a dfew seconds... each will eventually disappear. Then my in-house Wi-Fi will appear... and then disappear five seconds later. The phone cannot maintain a wifi connection.

Did some research. Recommendation for factory reset seemed to be dominant.
Did factory reset with backup. Now phone boots up and all I get s a black box message "Unfortunately, Android System has stopped".

If I wait for screen to sleep, it appears that I have stock screen saver on. When I swipe, I get the same message. Did factory reset BRICK my phone? This is the exact thing I was fearful of.

Ugh.:( I wonder if the firmware has become corrupted. Are you able to reflash it? (Sorry, but I don't have the technical knowledge to tell you how.)

Let me guess. Your phone is rooted and you factory reset in settings.

That borked your phone. You can't do a factory reset in settings in a rooted phone. A data/cache/dalvik cache wipe has to be done in a custom recovery like TWRP since the phone is rooted. I assume you don't have a nandroid backup or even a custom recovery?

You will need to reflash the original firmware as B Diddy suggested

Exactly. So long story short...phone is flashed with stock image.
Wifi is flakey exactly as before!!!
Never another LG. Never.

Back to stock. Marshmallow ota update.
Wifi at home and work flakey. It's on...its off. It's on- it's off. Rebooting the phone get's wifi back on...usually...for some unspecified period of time.
When searching for networks it cant even see several strong networks that are in the neighborhood.
Certainly appears like pure hardware fault at this point. Anyone have anything to add here? Even though phone is back to beautiful appearing- I'm about to toss it.

UPDATE:
Wonkiest problem I ever encountered. After days of totally off-the-wall unpredictable wifi behavior...yesterday...the G3 reverted to perfect behavior. Held wifi at home strong and consistent...I went in to work, and both wifi networks there showed up consistently, and I could hold both for extended period of time. I thought I was out of the woods. Today, back to problem child. Refuses to hold wifi anywhere...wont' even "see" available networks consistently. So frustrated. The phone is just about perfect but will be relegated to my junk drawer....or thrown in the lake. I've been all over the interweb and have not found anything that can solve this. I can see it being a hardware problem...some tiny part of the wifi radio malfunctioning. But that would not account for it reverting to normal operation and then totally failing a day later.

Time to leave the world of LG.
