So given the on-contract pricing, is it safe to assume that rumor about the off contract price being $300-350 was BS? I want to buy off contract, to keep my unlimited data at Verizon, and I had a high interest in this phone, especially with that rumor, but if it's going to be $600+ off contract, too, I might as well just wait and buy the new Droid MAXX when that comes out, instead.

I agree completely. With the amount of storage for the Verizon model I won't be getting that unless it's 500 or less. I'll wait and see the off contract price, but it looks like I'll be going for the MAXX as well
