Top front speaker LED

Is there any meaning to the LED turning green behind the top front speaker? It has turned green a few times only when my phone was plugged into a car charger and it froze up? I think I recall it being purple or red before also?

It usually lights up when your battery has been drained and there is not much power to turn on the screen. It just lets you know that your phone is starting to get charged. It is a green led, not RGB, so it can only show green.

The purple/red you saw was probably visible light bleeding from the IR emitters.
