Torrent Apps

I'm having issues getting torrent apps to work on my Galaxy Core Prime. I've had other Android phones in the past and have never been able to download torrents on any of them. I've tried both uTorrent and BitTorrent and they both get stuck "Gathering Information.." Is there some kind of trick to get these to work? It's really frustrating.
