Toshiba Thrive update

Have you done the update yet? See any changes? Everything working OK?

Just updated both of mine. Haven't really noticed much difference except that they UI seems a little more responsive. It still lags a little, but not like before. 3.2 isn't supposed to be much different...just brings extra hardware support and bug fixes mostly. Will update later if I notice anything besides the increased responsiveness (or if the responsiveness goes back to how it was).

Chuck0308, thanks, did you update right from the service station?

I updated through Service Center. I haven't noticed any real downsides yet. One oddity is that under Settings, Storage, it now lists 8 USB storage devices (grayed out if you don't actually have a USB storage device plugged in).

I love the zoom mode for apps that are not designed with tablets in mind. I was sick of squinting with the Twitter and Facebook apps. Not anymore!

Does anyone know if Swype was updated? The older version is driving me nuts after having the newer versions on my phones.

I finally had time to do the new update. went smoothly. It seems the wifi light stays on, even when I put in sleep mode. Anyone else having this happen? Yesterday, Before the update the power light starting staying on, instead of blinking when in sleep mode.

Any suggestionsn

TWO NEW BUGS AFTER 3.2 UPDATE

1. The SD card is locked as read-only for most apps. You can only write to it from within Toshiba File Manager or from your computer via the mini USB cable. Apps like QuickOffice Pro HD can't save to the SD card. Just to be clear, I'm talking about the actual SD Card (mounted as sdcard2). The Internal Storage (mounted as sdcard) doesn't have this problem.

2. Plugging a USB stick will take almost 20 minutes (not overstating it) for the system to fully recognize the drive. That's a lot of waiting with a spinning blue ring on the upper-right corner of Toshiba File Manager, and you can't do any file operations to or from the USB until that's over. Again, almost 20 minutes to recognize an 8 GB USB stick that was recognized quickly in 3.1. Yes, 3.1 frequently messed up move, delete and rename operations on the USB stick and these work fine in 3.2 but waiting 18+ minute before you can actually do something with the drive is too high of a price to pay.

Yes, Wi-Fi takes longer to go into sleep mode. The light does eventually go off but it's not immediately after entering sleep mode.

Is it normal to have 2 of everything under the internal storage. I opened the drive (internal) through my computer and it list two of everything. folders and contents.

Nothing will download to the tablet since the update for me. Email attachments, pictures from Facebook, all the downloads say unsuccessful. Any ideas how to fix this?

Scratch that last post. The downloads only have a problem in dolphin browser. It says there is not enough space to download the files but I have GBs of free space on the tablet. Strange, but the downloads work in the stock browser.

Could it be that Dolphin is trying to download to the SD card instead of to the internal storage? As I mentioned earlier, the actual SD card is now locked so only the file manager can write to it. 3rd-party applications can only write to the internal storage.

I'm having same problem with Dolphin HD. When I try to dnload a family photo from facebook, it says no space. I can then to go to stock browser and it will dnload.

Dolphin didn't save downloads to the physical SD card before the Toshiba update. I, too, get the no space message. Rather I use to -- when Dolphin would even launch. I've tried both Dolphin HD Browser and Dolphin for Pad. Both run when first installed. Then gives me only a blank, white screen thereafter until I force close the running app.

I had a somewhat different issue when my Thrive was updated to 3.2. HD videos would stream/play for about a minute or so and then would freeze. Nothing would restart them. The tablet continued to work fine. I tried lots of things to fix. I finally found something on another forum that worked!
I reset the lease times on my router from "forever" to "2 days". For some reason 3.2 doesn't recognize the forever setting. Seemed a little weird, but it worked. Videos stream flawlessly.
