Touch Based Media Mode???

Ok, have had this phone for 18 months and yesterday placed it on the left top of a bose wave radio.
The phone immediately went into some sort of landscape media mode I've never seen before.

I picked it up and it went back to normal. Put it back down, and the same thing happened.

This didn't happen in the middle of the radio (on top of the controls) or on the right side.

Really dont understand how this is possible (no NFC in here) or some weird fluke.

Has anyone seen this and is this normal?

The home dock uses a magnet like the original Droid to tell the phone to go into media mode. I bet the magnet in the speaker was what caused the phone to go into dock mode. The car dock works the same way. Both docks have a magnet in the same location relative to the phone. This tells the phone to go into dock mode. The magnet polarity tells the phone which mode (media or car) to go into.
