Touch+display dead

The display stopped working 2-3 days ago. On booting i can see the google logo for 2-3 seconds before the screen goes dark. The phone works and i can hear dings of messages, but i cant access any of it. Once i kept shut it for a day i was able to see the screen for 10-15 seconds( i used this window to remove the screen lock so that i can use the usb transfer ). Now keeping the phone shut for long duration has no effect.
I can see the fastboot screen but not the recovery screen throught it.

I also bought a slimport so that i could see the screen on my pc. It works (not for the fastboot or recovery), however the touch doesn't work and the volume and power buttons response is too sluggish. I can connect the mouse but it is of no use as i can't see the screen on PC and use the mouse at the same time. I tried adb but i cant touch the allow pernmissions key on the screen for the above reasons ( also what advantage would adb be in this case? ).

Any advice ?

So you can't connect even in Fastboot? If you can, then try flashing the stock factory image and see if that works.

Sorry, but connect what to what? to pc via usb or pc via slimport or connect a mouse to the phone ?
And how to flash an image since i cant use adb or recovery. Also i am a bit hesitant to flash anything because if there is any problem in the process or a wipe is needed, i cant do that since the screen isnt visible.

I am pretty sure Adb and Fastboot works. Quickly head to Google and download Android SDK. When it is installed head to the folder that was installed and you will see "Platform-tools" Inside is the adb and fastboot needed to save your phone. Leave that open and download the Nexus 5 factory image here . When you downloaded just open the Rar and put all the files in the "Platform Tools" Folder.

Go to your nexus 5 and power off. When it is off hold Volume up down and power. You will see a screen with a Android opened up. Connect your phone to your computer and in your "Platform Tools" folder just run flash-all and it will wipe your phone and everything and return it to factory


note, this will delete all your data

I was able to unroot and flash the stock rom. The problem still exists though, so it has to be a hardware issue. Fortunately the phone is still under warranty.
