Android Central Question

OK, so I take my phone out of my pocket to answer it and I get the message 'Touch input blocked To prevent this from happening again, check if the proximity sensor is blocked', while I'm trying to see who is calling. Now I've seen other posts with this problem, but the answer is always given to uncheck 'block accidental touches' in display settings. The reason this setting is checked is to keep phone from accidentally turning on in your pocket. My question is, can you keep the message from popping up without turning off the setting? ( I've got it on for a reason )

Re: touch input blocked

Unfortunately there is no way in the stock options to disable that message if you've enabled the block.

Re: touch input blocked

Thanks SpookDroid, I was afraid of that. Kind of pointless to get a notification like that when you're already aware of it

Re: touch input blocked

It should only come up if you repeatedly tap the screen and/or turn the screen on while still in a dark place/pocket/blocking the sensor.

I know it sounds redundant, but imagine you grab the phone and the sensor is somehow blocked (your finger, lint, broken, etc.) and you enabled that option. You would then try to use the screen and it wouldn't respond or react to touch (since you're blocking touch action). If you didn't know about that option, you'd probably think your phone is broken. Ergo, the message.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? It would seem to me that once the proximity sensor is no longer blocked (i.e., when it's out of your pocket), the touch input should automatically be allowed. Is anything else blocking the sensor, like a screen protector, or a poorly-fitting case?

SM-G935W8 Galaxy S7 Edge No, nothing blocking. Did some experimenting. When I cover sensor with my hand and turn phone on, message disappears as soon as my hand is clear. But when I have it in my pocket and it rings, I take it out of my pocket and maybe 50% of the time message stays on for several seconds after I make sure sensor is not blocked
