Touch Screen Issues - Need Some Advice

I was having the same problem. The touch screen response issue was worst than what I had on my Kindle Fire. I noticed the problems happen after I turned on Pattern lock. Once I disable that, the problem was gone.
Not sure if that is same problem everyone else has but that fixed it for me.

My N7's touch screen gets partially non-responsive from time to time. Sometimes a button will only respond unless tapped multiple times, or it won't work at all. Scrolling only partially works at times. When it's doing this it only scrolls in juts and jerks. To fix it I do a quick push on the power button and the problem stops until the next time it happens which can be an hour later or a few days. Also, so you know, these problems are not specific to just one part of the screen.

I called Google and they said to uninstall the apps that I thought might be suspects of causing the problem, then see what happens. I have done that and since I'm still having problems I am now uninstalling other apps that I wouldn't have considered suspect. Right now it's working but we'll see. If it works then I'll re-install the apps that I know are not causing interference and dump the app(s) that I believe are the culprits. Google said if that doesn't work then I should try a complete re-set to factory settings. It that doesn't work then I'll send it back since it's under warranty or live with it for awhile until the next up-date from Google. Maybe that will fix it.

I just noticed this a couple of days ago, in fact (coincidentally?) shortly after I installed the Swype Beta.

In my case, simply turning the screen off and back on fixes it, but it's annoying.

I may try another keyboard for a few days and see if it happens again.

I wiped my screen with the edge of my hand and it helped. Must be all that layer of smudges. I wiped my screen crystal clean and things are good. But instantly smudgy again :'( Though sometimes turning the screeen off and on fixes when its wonky.

I never had a tablet and my phone had a screen cover day one. My nexus 7 doesn't. So nothing to compare to.

Maybe not the cause, but the problem ''seems'' to go away when I have the display brightness setting at 1/3 or more and when the Auto Dim is off. We'll see.

So there's a thread on this on XDA that may be of interest to all of you. My gut feeling (and no one seems to know for sure) is that it's a problem with storage I/O in combination with push notifications wanting to write to storage. It seems likely that when you fill your storage up, the write speed drops significantly (and isn't fully fixed by deleting the files after the fact), and then when a task tries to do things in the background (Currents as mentioned above, I had a major issue with Out of Milk, and I've also noticed that Facebook's push service causes problems) it causes the lag. Usually if you can identify the service that wants access to storage and kill it, the lag goes away. But not always, in my experience.
I suspect that this may be fixable with a software update that does better garbage collection on the storage space, but it's always possible that there's a lot of poor quality NAND out there and so it's hardware. If you're seeing the lag a lot, try running Androbench and see what your write speeds are. Should be upward of 10MB/s sequential and over 110IOPS random. If it's not, try deleting some stuff and reboot. If that still doesn't fix it, the only way I could get mine back to where it needed to be was a factory reset. :-(

I have the same problem. It happens very occasionally during other use, but I found that while I was playing MAMC (a game with lots of swiping), the response would crawl and I'd have to attempt swipes multiple times. After that, the touch screen would become very unresponsive.

Most of the time, wiping the screen clean worked. But sometimes it didn't and I needed a reboot (didn't think to try the power button).

This happened before I got Swype installed. I don't think Swype has anything to do with it, personally.

I need help too. I have a tab named Swipe 3D Life +. From yesterday onwards the touch is not responding, it was yesterday (working perfectly) but then today i took it and try to type the password, nothing comes. I also had the problem of rebooting it for it to work. Any suggestions?
