Touch screen keyboard question

I am coming over from Palm Pre and have loved having a physical keyboard. Willing to jump into the touch screen world, but curious about something. My daughter has an EVO and her touch keyboard has a "feeling" when you touch the keys. It is more than simply touching glass where nothing happens.

What is that called?
Will the Epic Touch 4G have this feature?

It should be Haptic... Its like the phone vibrates to your keyboard presses. you don't feel it on the glass though it the phone itself... you also have the sound so when you press the keys...

Also looking to make the jump from a Pre. I know the haptic feedback has to use a little battery life, but anyone know how much? Just curious is all.

Cant use to much but remember that your screen will be on too so I guess it will kill a lot of it if you are always typing on it lol.

As for battery life, I can assure you that my teenage daughter types a lot on it. Her battery seems to last the whole day.

Now just to cross check the specs to see if the Sprint Galaxy SII Epic 4G Touch (boy that is a very long name) has it.

It will. I haven't seen a single Android phone that doesn't have it. It's a standard feature.

Yeah it's haptic feedback, and every touch screen android phone I have used has it. They also have the ability to be turned off too. First thing I usually do when I get a new phone is turn the haptic feedback and key tones off. I find them useless and only cause extra battery drain. Also the touch should have swype installed since it is a samsung phone.

I hope the built in dictionary on Galaxy S II's is better than on the EVO 4G. That's my biggest gripe with a touch screen phone that doesn't have a physical keyboard. I keep the Haptic feedback on but turn off the key sound. Closest thing to having a physical keyboard.

ARG! My biggest complaint about the swype dictionary on my evo is when I swype in "that's" it always puts in Ghats. I finally looked up what Ghats was and it's a word I'd never use. There's a few other words with apostrophes in them that swype likes to skip (or is that skyp?) over in favor of other lesser known words. Drives me nuts!

I hope swype's dictionary on SGSIIE4GT is better...

The Swype on mine is fantastic imo. Only had to correct it a few times at the start, but it remembers those first corrections and prioritizes them. No problems since. Things bloomin' fast and accurate as could be!

Can't be much difference between the European and US variations in that sense. It's a samsung program afterall.
