Touch-screen lag while charging

I have tried several different chargers and different outlets, same result. I was a M7 user for almost two years and I have never experienced that problem with it (even tried the same chargers on the M7, no problem) and it's quite annoying, to be honest. Although I appreciate the bigger battery and how it lasts longer, I like to use it at night while it's still charging (between the 40 - 70% range) and I find that while it is plugged in, the touch-screen is extremely laggy. It is very noticeable when swiping (it just randomly opens an app), when typing (it keeps opening recent apps), and of course when trying to play a game (it's just completely horrendous). Does anyone experience the same problem or is it just me? The phone goes back to normal as soon as I plug the charger out.

Thank you.

Do you use any battery monitoring app? as it could be hogging the memory during charging which leads to the lag.

Do you have any apps designed to operate in the background only when plugged in? Resource intensive apps usually have that option, and the extra processing they need will cause lag too.

I totally forgot about this thread but the problem persists. I do have Battery Stats Pro installed but I doubt it has any effect since it just reads the information rather than 'improve battery life' like some other apps do. I also have GSam Battery installed which does the same thing but I prefer its widget. The apps I have running in the background are as follows: Messenger, Google Play Services, Whatsapp+, Viber, BBM, HTC Dot View, etc. They aren't really resource intensive if you think about it, but I tend to manually force BBM and Viber to close since I don't use them all the time. And I am talking about the touchscreen lagging only when the charger is connected which is very weird for me because as soon as I disconnect the charger everything goes back to normal. When the charger is plugged in, I can barely type on the keyboard since it keeps opening Recent Apps, exiting, and doing random things.

Doubt this is the reason for your issue, but force closing apps is counterproductive under normal circumstances. It's the same thing as memory "optimizers" that do that.

After several tests using different charges, it turned out the charger I've always used is the caveat. I am now using my sister's Samsung charger and everything is working brilliantly. Thanks for all your help, Mooncatt, I appreciate it.

Interesting. Perhaps the stock charger is slightly defective, but that doesn't explain why the problem doesn't happen with the M7 on it. Either way, it sounds like you got it figured out. Wouldn't hurt to contact HTC and see if they can just send you a new charger without doing a full warranty claim with the phone.

I guess I can visit the dealership a visit and see what is going on. And yeah, the weird thing is that it doesn't happen with my M7, but I am sure there's a reasonable explanatino for that somewhere. I am glad I got it sorted out because it was really annoying and it made the device completely unusable while it was charging.

I'm having that issue too (sometimes). When I type something my taps go to other places. So like you, it just closes or opens apps etc. I'm using a 2ah Samsung charger. Weird

Yeah, it's definitely on and off for me because another charger I tried today had the same problem. It is weird.
