Touch screen on bottom half of S8+ not working properly.

I have had my S8+ for about 5 months with a screen protector put on since day 5. About two months ago the bottom half of the touch screen stopped working i.e. takes a zillion tries to drag an icon there and once its there long press does not work. You can only touch and launch the app.

After a frustrating 2 months I removed the (working perfectly lovely) screen protector but when that did not help I did a 'factory reset' (more painful than seeing my dentist). All this to no avail :(

I've googled this and it appears this is a known issue. I do not know what to do. I could live with all my apps at the top half of the screen but 'no dock' will be an issue.

Does anyone know how to fix this and put me out of my misery?

It sounds like one of 3 things:

1. A bad digitizer (the part of the screen that "feels" the touch).

2. A loose connection - the plug from the screen to the motherboard came loose.

3. A bad motherboard.

You'd have to bring it into a repair shop to get it diagnosed further, although, since it's still probably under warranty, Samsung should repair it. (Make sure you back up everything first - they may just ship you another phone. See Backing up an Android Device. Keep a copy of the backup on at least 2 cloud accounts or a cloud account and your PC.)

It should still be under warranty right? It will be better to send it in to Samsung. They will most likely change the AMOLED and the battery

do you happen to be using a case that has a kickstand with a Magnet to keep it closed? that was an issue with the Note when trying to use the Spen. The Spen would be unresponsive where the magnet on the case was located on the back of the phone.
