so will using a charger from verizon for car or travel charger actually hurt the phone long term or what? Never had this issue before I still dont understand why moto does this...
Since I charged the phone last few days with travel charger should i exchange it or phone hardware still good?

Some extra info if it matters. The travel charger input is the same the output is 5.0v 650mA where the oem is 5.1v 850mA not sure if that matters or not. Car charger verizon.com says is compatible so hope that helps. Again any input would be great.

Car charger yes... home charger no since its a trinkle charger.
Car charger is meant to be used in small incriments (20) mins or so.
If u buy the charger from vzw/motorola/best buy etc ur fine. Vzw's is warrantied for a year and if it acts weird with the phone its our problem. If u buy third party charger its thier problem while we will still warranty the Phone if our techs say its the charger its up to the other company to replace the Charger and occasionally the phone if the charger caused the defect.

This is a rather old thread, but I thought I'd add my $.02 for documentation-sake, in case it helps anyone...

I've noticed the jittery touchscreen when charging, too. The thing is, though, that I don't have to be using a generic charger. In fact, I found that my touchscreen got jittery when I was charging my phone off of the USB port on my home PC. It also got jittery if I charge it off of my work laptop... but that's not all. I then plugged it into the wall with the OEM Motorola charger and it was still jittery. I tried these three configurations also with different USB cables as well as with and without the docking station. No matter what, the result was always a jittery touchscreen.

At this point, the only common theme was the outlet that was powering both computers and the charger (when I plugged it in directly). So, I tried a different outlet... problem solved. No more jitter. That particular outlet in my home appears to generate some sort of interference/fluctuation that results in a jittery touchscreen on my phone, even if the power is being filtered through the USB ports of my computers. Go figure.

At any rate, there is at least one other outlet in the house that produces a similar jittery. I haven't tried all of the other outlets, but the rest that I have tried work OK. Mind you, I live in a rented house and I'm not all that confident about the state of the electrical system given this phenomenon (as well as the fact that the main breaker had to be replaced when we first moved in because it was kicking out at half of its rated load). Most of the wiring in the house is pre-1950, and thus, is ungrounded (no 3rd prong). This includes the outlet that is powering my computers, which may have something to do with the generated interference. Who knows. I sure don't.

PS: There is no jitter when charging off of the same work laptop while I'm at the office; same goes for my workstation at the office, too.
