Hi, everyone.

I have an S3 from AT&T, so that makes it an SGH-I747.

It is rooted, but it is on its stock rom and this is the very first problem I have had with it since I rooted it many, many moons ago and I am using Nova launcher. Now, I don't completely understand the problem I am having, so I really can't explain it all too well. So please, I ask that you bear with me.

So here's the situation. My touchscreen is completely unresponsive. I can still access S-Voice and tell it to open apps, which open fine, I still receive notification lights (charging, messages, etc.), but that is it. I cannot select anything, move any icons, type any messages or answer phone calls.

The screen also turns itself on randomly. I think it's because I received a message, but haven't been able to answer it and I have it set to notify me every 10 minutes for an unanswered message. The notification and vibrations still goes off, too. The screen still turns on without a vibration or notification of the message. It's just a strange issue.

The screen still appears and my wallpaper is still there. I did, however, do something new with it yesterday. I installed an application that allows you to set GIF files as your wallpaper. I believe the app is called "Anim Wallapaper Gif 2" or something along those lines. I can't access my app drawer, so I don't know its name, but I think I'm close.

If this app is the thing that's causing this problem, how do I go about uninstalling it? I don't want to restore it completely just to get rid of one app. Is there maybe a program I can use to uninstall it through my computer?

However, if that app isn't the problem, what is my next course of action? I can restore it, but really I'd like that to be my final resort. I could (somehow) call AT&T, but I'm not sure AT&T would send me a new S3, since rooting it voids the warranty.

So, can I get any help, please?

Thanks for your time, guys. I truly do appreciate it.

Have you fiddled around with the developer options or flashed any zips, you may have found prior to the issue occurring?

I have no idea what that means.

So no, I haven't "flashed any zips."

As far as dev options go, off the top of my head, the only dev option I have enabled is "USB debugging"

EDIT:

Just discovered that the options and back key still work.

Well, it looked liked I was dead in the water. So I went ahead and called AT&T. New S3 should be here either tomorrow or Monday.

Shame I couldn't fix this issue.

Thanks anyways, guys. Have a good night.

Have you tried pulling the battery out for a few minutes?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did try that.

I am just so confused by what caused this. No cracks on the screen, no bad drops. It just stopped working. I could have expected it to be defective at least a week into owning it, but nine months later for this issue to prop up? I am just at a loss.

At any rate, it's all backed up now. Just awaiting the new phone from AT&T. It was supposed to arrive today accoIrding to the rep I spoke to, but I guess I won't have it until Monday or Tuesday. I am just ticked off this happened, but they gotta happen at some point.
