Touchscreen "issues"

I'm having what I can only describe as "issues" with my Fascinate.

I'm rooted, with Voodoo...nothing way out there.

But my phone did this prior to the voodoo flash.

It registers what I assume are inadvertent touches. That is to say, the phone is in my pocket, and I can feel haptic feedback.

Or, say I'm playing Angry Birds or Air Control...the phone will act as if it is being touched without a finger being laid on the screen. Happens all the time in Angry Birds, actually. I've got a Realook screen protector on there, but I can't believe that would be causing a problem.

I've cleaned the screen numerous times and I know I'm not touching it when it happens. Anyone else experience anything similar?

I had loads of problems with my Storm 1 and I feel like if I went to verizon now with this phone, they'd laugh at me.

you might want to try taking off the screen protector to see if that is the problem. if you do and it still causes issues, then I would take it back to vzw. S1's had all sorts of issues, so I wouldn't worry about that track record.

I have noticed that the screen is really sensitive to touches, even when you are just holding it and your fingers might wrap around a tiny bit and touch the screen it will register it. As far as activity in your pocket, do you not lock the screen before putting it in your pocket?

The screen is off when it goes in the pocket. I used the codes to disable to locking portion of the screen, but if I put the screen to sleep before it goes in the pocket, it shouldn't be coming back on, correct?

I've also noticed the power button on the side is uber sensitive. I've shut my phone off a number of times and I didn't even know I pressed the key in.

Additionally, (this is part of the weirdness) I'd get the haptic feedback without touching the screen. Actually, touching nothing but the case the phone is in...(the strangeness is regardless of whether the phone is in the case or not).

I have noticed this same thing. Sometimes mine registers a touch if my finger is hovering over the screen just a little bit.

Are you using something like NoLED, or Handcent for text messaging? Both apps will turn on the screen when notifications arrive.

Nope, nothing like that. It's annoying. And it's something that's random and difficult to duplicate, so I feel like going to Verizon won't change anything...

My screen someones registers touches when the phone clearly isn't being touched and I have to do a battery pull to fix it. just last night it did this again. Tried to hold the power button but as soon as the menu popped up, airplane mode would be the selection. I'm guessing I may have a poltergeist. Anyone know how to reach the scary little old lady?

Capacitive touchscreens use the conductive properties of the human body, so occasionally you can get some arcing when your finger gets really close to the screen. All of them are like that. :)
