Touchscreen registers excessive touches

A few weeks ago after having problem I turned on a function that shows where your touches are registered.
Basically either I don't touch it and there's a touch as it's shown or I touch it yet there's 2 or more registered touches. How can I fix it? By the way my contract is almost up so I just can't return it since I bought it when my contract was renewed.

No, not dumb--I just meant that a screen protector could be a potential source of touchscreen problems.

Is your screen totally clean? Sounds crazy, but I recall having some weird touchscreen issues with my old HTC Droid Incredible, which would usually calm down after a good screen cleaning. Otherwise, consider a factory data reset.

Now that you mention it my screen is a bit dirty
