TouchWiz interface

Okay, so I've had my Mesmerize for a couple of months now, and it seems like there's no way to disable the TouchWiz interface on this.

I'm not looking to load a custom ROM or anything onto my device, but is there any way to install the vanilla Android interface, and then just disable the TouchWiz?

I know on the Epic 4G, there was the option of selecting the Home launcher or the TwLauncher (TouchWiz), but the trick for disabling it on the Mesmerize does NOT work, and it appears that the Home (vanilla) launcher interface just... doesn't exist in this build of Samsung's software...

Do you guys know of any way to disable it on this device, or install the stock Android one? I absolutely despise this TouchWiz stuff.

Rooted the device last night, and tried deleting the TwLauncher using Titanium Backup, and I pretty muched bricked the phone, took me a while, but I was able to get it back up and running like normal.

Any thoughts?

I think that if you don't want to put a custom ROM on, then you need to install a different launcher. Once you do that, you should be able to switch away from TouchWiz.

you can run the stock launcher by going into SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>MANAGE APPLICATIONS>TWLAUNCHER>clear defaults
When you go back to home a popup will ask you which launcher you want to use, click "use as default" and then "launcher" and it will use the stock launcher as default.
You will lose your home screen setups in this process but you would want to start over anyway since the stock layout is a bit diferent.
Maybe not quite as much functionallity up front, but you should notice an increase in transision speed and a bit less clutter!
Not sure if I like it all that much better, but it is fun to switch it up from time to time!
Enjoy!

I personally use ADWLauncher on my Mesmerize. Love the flexibility and features that you don't get on the stock launcher.

Not sure if you caught that section of my original post, but this does NOT work on the mesmerize.

oops! reread my post, forgot to add one step, download "Android 2.3 launcher" from Android market and choose it from the pop up and you are running stock 2.3 Android launcher

Also, keep in mind the market has third party apps to replace pretty much every operation that your phone does with the Touch wiz interface...mail, sms, dialers, browsers, video players, calanders, keyboards, etc., etc., etc.
Cheers
