Touchwiz nightmare

So yesterday I had this TouchWiz notification appear on my phone for the first time - after I've had my phone for three months. It was almost to the point where I couldn't get it off my screen. I can't remember exactly what it asked, but I could select just once or always and I wanted neither option; I thought it was malware at first. Anyway, some ***** on another forum said to just select "home" and "always" and that would get rid of it. Well, now instead of it going away, it took over and completely changed my home screen and look! I didn't ask for it and didn't want it to do that! The icons are now giant-sized, and I've pretty much got to learn how to navigate all over again. How can I go back to the way I was, and get rid of this nightmarish Samsung infestation?

You have a couple options:
1. You can go into Settings>apps>menu>click reset app preferences. This will clear all defaults that you have, and should bring back anything that is set as a /system default, including the launcher (I believe this is your problem). That should bring back everything that you had before.

-OR-

2. You can get a different launcher form Play. Some good ones are: Nova, Apex, and Action Launcher. A launcher is just a User Interface, but third party Launchers offer a lot of customizing that the stock TW one can't. I use Nova myself, and it is really nice.

I don't have a "settings" option anymore. TouchWiz blew that away. Now I have a new icon called "easy settings." And if I press what used to be the menu area on the bottom left of my phone in order to get to settings that way, I now just get edit/search/notifications/easy settings. When I go to the easy settings option, there is no "menu" option anywhere to select that I can find in order to reset my app preferences.

I would consider TouchWiz to be Samsung malware at this point the way it springs on you unexpectedly and changes everything.

Can you get to settings in your app drawer?
Google is your friend

In easy settings you should have an icon called home screen mode. Click that and change the option that comes up to standard mode, click apply. Should get you back to regular TouchWiz.

Thanks! That did the trick.

Holy cr@p! TouchWiz even wiped away my icon to make a phone call! What Samsung idi0t designed that option?!

I have the same problem on my S5, but every time I push the home button to close a program a box pops up and asks if I want to "use touchwiz home as home" like EVERY time I close a program. I even went in and cleared the defaults. It still does it. It's to the point where I want to just return the phone. I had the SIII before and loved it, but Samsung has really screwed up their product!!!!???? Programming FAIL!

This is a workaround though you are able to get back the home screen, but I have doubt what this malware does.
go to Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Home > it is indeed still defaulted to TouchWiz Home. And worse, the radio button appeared with 2 choices of either Touchwiz easy home or TouchWiz Home.

It's camouflage. How do we get it fully removed? Appreciate.
