TouchWiz vs. Sense

I picked up the Epic today and so far I really like it. I still have my EVO which I also think is a great phone. I know a lot of rumblings around the Epic have been around TouchWiz vs Sense. Unless I'm missing something TouchWiz seems great (at least for me). I don't seems to be missing anything that I had on sense.

What are your thoughts/opinions?

Why are folks so concerned about TouchWiz?

I personally think Sense has a lot more to offer. Plus it looks much more refined.. Touchwiz is still really new on Android devices, so i'm sure it will get better with time.

I understand what you are saying and can agree, but I can't find a reason why I don't like TouchWiz. From some post/reviews I thought there were going to be a lot of issues with TouchWiz.

Na Touchwiz isn't very in depth of a ROM over Android like Sense is. Sense has tons of stuff overlaying the OS, that Touchwiz does not.

I'm using LauncherPro Plus with Beautiful Weather. It reminds me of my short days with the EVO in a way

^^LauncherPro with Beautiful Widgets is a perfect combo... Still Sense and Touchwiz run under it. Like for apps, syncing stuff. Like I can still use Facebook and Twitter for HTC Sense even though i'm using LauncherPro. It's stuff like that to me that makes Sense better.

I ended up disabling mine, it was pretty easy to do. It was mainly because I couldn't change the docks on the bottom. Otherwise the interface seemed fine, just not for me.

Just running the standard android interface for now, maybe i'll look at launcherpro in the future.

That combo is just amazing! I'm using it right now and I just love it! How the heck do you fix the Contacts icon though? I just get an error trying to open it. It was posted before, but I don't remember where.

I am with you on this one. The only real difference are the widgets. Everything else is no big deal.

There is one thing about TouchWiz that, if were available on Sense, would make Sense 100% in my opinion: bounce-back feature. Originally, it was the iPhone that had perfected this feature, where if you scroll all the way down or up on a list, it bounces back. Sense has this, but its a bit strange the way it is implemented in some places (app drawer, Sense apps like Mail, Messages, Photo Album, etc). If you flick the screen up or down, it just slows down to a stop as it reaches the end. If its already at the end, and you pull further, THEN it will bounce back. Plus, its not available in the core Android functions, like in the settings. I am pleasantly impressed with the way Samsung implemented this in Tw, similar to how it is available on the iPhone.

touchwiz isnt that bad really, just not as great as sense...

my gripe with the wiz is the colors for the widgets... i mean i loved the idea of the feeds and updates widgets like friendstream till i realized it was PINK!!!

Real men like pink Joking aside, maybe they wanted to utilize the super amoled screen's vibrant coloring ability by using brighter colors in their UI? Like the headers for menus (i.e. the menu that appears when you long-press on the home screen) is sky blue.

I love sense and have the hero, but the wiz has a nice look to it. Its different, and hey at least it I'd not something like motoblur haha.

Ill have to play with it... I dont like the look of the widgets personally but it doesn't mean that they suck... It probably has alot of the same functionality as sense...

Launcherpro plus got the scrollabe widgets, which are very cool. Right now they have calendar, messaging, bookmarks, and contacts.

I played around with my friends new Epic this morning. I have an Evo, and didn't really like the touch wiz. He wasn't very fond of it either, so we applied Launcher Pro, and now the phone is fantastic. Speedy. Beautiful screen. Nice phone, and not as bulky as I thought it would be.
