Track Down using GPS?

I recently lost my phone at a party. (I'm pretty sure a 10 year old kid there ran off with it after I dropped it on the floor. That or we were all blind there and couldn't find it anywhere.)

Is it possible to use the GPS on the phone to track it down?
I have not installed anything on it before, but from what I know, Sprint can track down their phones... Is it possible for me?

I called, and Hector told me that they are unable to do that.

There is an app from Lookout called "plan b" or something like that. If you go to the android market, it will push to the phone and start tracking.

They tout it as the first and only program to find your lost phone AFTER you've already lost it. Of course, having a tracking program installed already is always helpful.
