Do NOT preorder!

Unless you are going to take advantage of the $1k carrier deal, do not pre order this. Sales are going to be so bad on this phone Samsung will have to increase trade in values after launch. Hold off, you will get a better deal post launch. This happened last year. Trade in values were more after the release date. I can't do a carrier deal because you can't get the measly 1TB version with a carrier.

$500 for a $1600 1TB S22U? I may not be buying a new phone for a very long time. Samsung is shooting themselves in the foot. Samsung is testing to see how stupid people are.

Considering that many didn't pay 1,600 for their 1TB S22 Ultra I believe it will be ok. Samsung is tired of giving out crazy high values for the sake of selling devices. They are switching to carrier promos as the profit is bigger than the high instant values they're use to giving. The economic shift that will be happening in the next few years is no joke.

The lack of S23's they'll be selling this year will be no joke either lol. But we should see some great sales later this year when they need to clear out their excess inventory... my kind of year :p

Re: Do NOT preorder!

I might do the carrier deal with my old note 9. Definitely not trading in the S22U if the trade INS get up there later then I'll think about getting another one then, otherwise maybe I'll trade it in on the fold 5. We'll see what happens

How much more was trade in values last year?

Re: Do NOT preorder!

I'm not trading in mu s22u for $500. I'll wait to see if Samsung offers more later on down the road.
I still have my Note 10+ along with my s22u. Samsung is only offering $200 on the Note 10+. Where Verizon is offering $800 in credit over 36 months. I'm not going that route either. Don't want all the carrier bloatware.

If you're trading a one years old 1TB S22U less then a year after it's released then you probably don't need a s23uU

They'll come back out with the $900-$1000 trade-in value in a few months like they did last year.

They didn't make money giving those amounts with the S22 and they won't with the S23 either. They just wanna try to hit their sales numbers so that they can keep their heads held up high saying they can sell 20+ million.

Last year I believe I read they had a target of 30 millions S22 phones (all variants combined??) and fell short of that even though they were giving high $$$ for trade-ins.

Paid $300 for my N20U after promotion. Paid $300 for my S22U after promotion. I think I got my S8 for a few hundred bucks back then too?? Never pay full price for these things. If they don't, perfectly fine with my S22U :)

I really wanted the 1TB version but Samsung really f++d up the trade ($380 for my Note 20 U for the 1TB vs $800 towards the 512gb Verizon version - WTF?)

So I settled for the 512gb (my Note 20 was 512gb (with an SD card slot too) so I downgraded memory!

Why the heck was 1TB a Samsung exclusive? iphone 14 1TB was available on all carriers. Could've gotten a much better deal on 1TB if it was available on carriers. Ridiculous

You can flash the unlocked software on the carrier phones. That's what I'm going to do

Re: Do NOT preorder!

Samsung site was all messed up yesterday too (didn't reflect my trade in at checkout) so I had to go to my local Verizon store. But they got me a $1000 trade on my Note 20 (vs $800 on Samsung site) so I got a great deal

I think Verizon raised their trade in due to T-Mobile

Do another order and see if the trade in amount changes. I just did my order this morning and got $1,000 for note 9 from Verizon. I think Verizon is matching T-Mobile now

I just did upgrade not a new line

Re: Do NOT preorder!

Do NOT preorder!

You spent years ordering us not to buy these phones (and predicting Samsung's imminent demise) because Samsung had removed the obsolete MST capability that you still craved. Now you're ordering us not to buy because you don't like the low trade-in offer. There are already threads discussing this year's trade-in offer, so the new threads you're posting are just spam.

If you're happy to stay with your previous phone, then we're glad you're happy. But you don't really sound happy.

Re: Do NOT preorder!

If you were trading in a US unlocked S21 Ultra for an S22 Ultra last year, pre-ordering was still the best deal for the 256 GB S22 Ultra (which was sold for the price of the 128 GB model during the pre-order). I expect the same to be true if you want the 512 GB S23 Ultra this year, instead of the 256 GB model. But the trade-in value is poor this year, so it's probably better to sell your old phone yourself.

just what we need another thread from the same person about how horrible the trade in values are.
Mods...can we delete duplicate threads or merge them?
