Trading in a phone with AT&T

I've traded in an HTC one because of a manufacturing problem and got a new device with a different problem. I was wondering if I would be able to trade it the phone again within 14 days of getting the 2nd device. I called the store I bought it from but they said I would not be able to because I already traded it in once and I would just like to confirm this. My phone's screen is raised at the top and its kind of annoying

Call or chat with AT&T directly and explain the issue. It's something they should fix.

I agree. If there's a physical defect it should be replaced. Did you speak to a corporate store or third party retailer?

As I understand it the one time exchange only applies if you exchange your device for a different one and pay a 35 dollar restocking fee. If the device is defective there is no limit to the amount of exchanges for the same device until you get a good one. Do not let them tell you they don't. If you have another corporate store in your area take it there. If not, take the phone back to the same store and if they don't exchange it just tell them you are returning it and want them to reset your upgrade eligibility. Then you can go elsewhere and buy it.

I agree with Ben. Don't take no for an answer with a defective device. You'll have it for the next two years, so it'll be nice to have a device which is not defective or damaged from the start. .
