Traditional typing vs swiping

It takes a lot of getting used to it. I went back to tapping and using the predicted text.

I've never used voice dictation, since the few times I played with it, it resulted in indecipherable gibberish.

Aw, man.. Laura, listen .. I just get tired of all the tapping... I never could get the wipe down.. I would be all over the place with that... all kinda "what?" in my texts... I just started talking it out... Lol!

Hahaha. I don't voice type, ever, it's kind of a principle. I don't talk with gadgets unless there's a human being on the other end. :D

oh see for me, on the other hand of the equation I love voice typing. I just proofread all my messages before I sent them out. I tried so hard to use Swype but it just doesn't feel normal or natural to me unfortunately... I love talking to machines and robots I'm so robotic hahaha

The other problem for me is that I'm rarely in a place where there is complete silence. Even when I'm home alone, I'll watch a show or play music, so the dictation doesn't just hear my voice but everything in the background.

Yeah I hear ya. Usually what I'm doing just speak directly to the microphone as clearly as I can... works pretty well on Google voice typing is really really ridiculously fast!

There is as much of a human being at the end of my text messages as there are on your phone calls.

I'm older than most trees and I've learned that anything I try and reject has to be revisited ever few months because things change so quickly. I hadn't tried "swiping" in some time to I went to GBoard and activated "Glide". It worked much better than when I tried Swiftkey a year ago.

"Older then most Trees" 😂 I've got tree's that are older then you and me combined in age😂😂

"Older then most Trees" ?????? I've got tree's that are older then you and me combined in age????????????

And, that's exactly why I didn't say I was older than the tree in your back yard. I'm not the oldest person but I'm certainly far older than average. The fact remains, that technology changes so quickly that what was true a few months ago might no longer be true.

Well for you being a older person and still staying up with the tech and here in the forums ,I admire you .

Don't get carried away. I haven't had a television in 23 years and looking at new televisions in the stores totally mystifies me. I do truly enjoy my Pixel 3 and my chromebook. They make a good pair.

Been typing for more than half a century and I find swiping and dictation useless. It is far easier and faster for me to just type, and much of my day is spent at work or in places where I can't talk to my phone anyway. I also find predictive text very frustrating since it is wrong so often. Apparently other people don't mind sending messages with incorrect words judging from the garbled messages I receive. Luckily, I can usually guess the message.

oh island voice typing isn't always accurate. But I try my best to proofread most of the time. As far as the actual typing, I tried swiping yesterday as much as I could, adjusted feel as natural to me as voice typing is just easier. And I don't care about talking into my phone sometime at all haha
