Have replacement Note 7. Saw that doing anew clean install is the best way to get best battery results.
There are only two things I need to transfer for ease of use. They are Contacts and email settings.
The question is can you just transfer ONLY Contacts and if no conflicts the Email settings?
If so, will either or both of these transfers effect the battery or doing a clean install?

Advice and information would be appreciated, thanks

I don't think they would. You can always ask Samsung Support on Twitter I contacted them last weekend and they were really helpful and responded quickly. I did a full transfer on my replacement a and now I'm having issues with weak charging I'll probably have to do factory reset, ugh. 😞

I sync with Google so when I change phones my contacts and emails just come over. I'm a bit unclear what you are concerned about losing. Is Gmail your primary account?

Yes you can select only contacts when you use SmartSwitch and that would only transfer your contacts to your replacement device. This is not going to affect your battery.

Step 1.On your old Samsung device and the new one, open Google Play.Search Smart Switch Mobile app, download and install it on the two Samsung devices.
Step 2.Put the two Samsung devices together or at least within 4 inches.
Step 3.On your old Samsung device, open Smart Switch and tick the contacts file to transfer. You are allow to transfer contacts, photos, messages, music, note and more.
Step 4.Tap Transfer on your old Samsung device. Then,go to your new Samsung device and click OK to receive the files transferred from the old Samsung device.

If sync was enabled on your previous account, you can start by logging in to your google account and you would be able to see your emails/contacts.
If not go to “Settings” on your old Android phone, then “Accounts,” and select “Google.” (if you haven't got a gmail account, you can make this) This will give you a list of items to sync, Select “Contacts” and anything else you would like to transfer. Check “Sync Now,” and your data will be saved in Google’s servers.
Start your new Android phone; it will ask you for your Google account information. When you sign in, your device will sync contacts and other data automatically. If you started using your phone before you established a Google account, go to “Accounts & Sync” to add your account manually

When I did my transfer from my Note Edge to my 7, it gave me the option of contacts, text messages, pics and a whole bunch of apps. I had well over 25k text messages so I never even thought about that. Well, it would have take 2 houts alone just for the texts. Emails I'm not so sure...
