So i got my wife a larger sdcard for her Samsung S10. I transfered a bunch of pictures from the internal drive to the new sdcard. There was an error at some point. Pretty sure the phone said it put the card in read only so there is no damage. When i go to the gallery i can see the files with file size and name in the details but cant see them in my files. Is there something happening when it when into ready only and did not finish the transfer? Are the pitures gone? Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Did you use the Move command or the Copy command? Copy is always preferable, since the original files will be intact if something goes wrong with the operation. Not so if you use the Move command.

Where did you get the card? If it was from a less-than-well-known seller, there's always a risk for a counterfeit card (which is much smaller in size than what's advertised), and if you exceed the actual storage size of the card, data can get corrupt.

If you remove the card and insert it into a PC, can you read the files there?

I used the moved command instead of copy due to the internal memory being so full. Was not sure if copying would ha e messed up as well. I have yet to take the card out of the phone incase something happens during removal. I will as a last resort. The card storage on PC and on the phone matched the size.

I have plugged the phone i to a PC and i could not see the files. Only.place i see file size and name ia in the dtails on each file. I can move a file to a different folderon the phone and then i am able to see it in the new folder but comes up as unsupported. File name and size show tho

Bought through amazon... not a sandisk or anything. Name brand so who knows. I can confirm ive had over 300 gb on the card and i was moving less then 60 gb to the card that only had 30gb on it

I can confirm i have put more then what i want to put on the card the pictures that were there already are viewable. Card is not name brand bout from amazon. I can not see them on pc with the phone atched through usb.

Rather then connecting the phone to the PC via USB, I would still recommend removing the SD card and inserting it into your PC's card reader, and using the method linked above to check the validity of the card. What you're describing certainly could be due to a counterfeit card.
