Transferring apps from internal storage to SD Card

Ok I don't get this at all. I just recently purchased a brand new SD card but I have absolutely no idea how to transfer all of my stuff on to it. I've searched the internet and can't figure it out.

My internal storage holds almost nothing and slows down my phone so I want everything on my phone (mostly apps) to move from the internal storage to the SD Card. The problem is that its not letting me. I have gone to settings and went to specific apps and attempted to move them to the SD card but the SD Card option does not show up. I don't get it.

Ive also gone to the application manager and it shows the SD card storage but no internal storage so I don't know. I was hoping I could transfer files from there but apparently not.

Im just at a loss here. It seems my phone isn't even allowing me to transfer anything to my SD card. It also installs everything that I download to internal storage. Ive looked and can't figure out how to make the default download to my SD Card.

Would really appreciate if somebody could help me. I have no idea why its this difficult.

Re: Transferring apps from internal storage to SD Card

I sounds like maybe your device is not really seeing the SD Card. Depending on the device model and how the OEM of the device allocates the internal storage, the user-data-storage portion of the internal storage can still show as "SD Card" even though it really isn't an "SD Card". If you're not seeing an option for "Internal Storage" then this is likely the case. For these devices, the actual SD Card is usually called "External Media" or something to that effect.

Was the device powered off when you installed the new SDCard? I'm assuming the SDCard came pre-formatted with FAT32? Can you post a screen-shot of what your "Storage" settings look like? You should see something like this:

For the OEM to do this is absurd! I am searching for some understanding about this topic and found this thread.
Why would the OEM have a portion of the internal storage labeled as "SD Card"? It only confuses.

I am referring to a Samsung Galaxy tablet. I tried to store a PDF file on the external SD card, and the app said "SD card". But when I opened a file manager, and looked at the external SD card, it was not there. Yes, my phone does in fact see the external card.

It seems that I need to only look for "ExtSDcard" when I want to access the ACTUAL SD card.

Any further insight would be helpful.

Cheers,
