Transferring files from internal memory to external (sd card) and lost everything!!!

I was going to backup all of my pictures, videos, music... etc. using My Backup Pro. But before I backed them up, (using ES File Explorer) I decided to go through each folder (on the internal drive), delete unwanted items and "move" everything else to its new location, (my sd card). I deleted everything I did not want, everything else did "move" successfully. However, I decided to double check my internal folders, one at a time, to make sure I had not forgotten or missed anything. Next I went back to recheck everything was moved to its correct location but my sd card folder was completely empty. I immediately went to view my pic gallery to see if they were gone. The folders were still there. I attempted to click on one of the folders and it told me it was "invalid, the folder did not exist." So I rebooted my phone thinking it was just being glitchy. Once it rebooted, it told me my "sd card was blank or has an unsupported file system." Now, the folders in my gallery are no longer there and all of my audios and videos are gone as well. I put the sd card into a reader and tried it on my laptop. It said it was blank and asked if I wanted to format it. I did not format it. I removed it and placed it back into my phone. How can I recover my lost files from my card? I have not taken any pictures or done anything as of yet.
I am using a Droid Razr Maxx.

What brand, capacity, class of SD card are you using? They are not 100% indestructible, they are known to fail sometimes, but it is rare. Have you googled 'SD card file recovery'?

It's a PNY 32G Micro SD card. I have googled sd card file recovery. I wasn't sure if my files are still on my phone hard drive or somewhere lost in sd card land.

Install this on the laptop:

There's a slim chance that Recuva can recover your stuff from the SD card. Worth a try. But I have a feeling that the SD card has failed.

Since you did a 'move' instead of 'copy/paste' the files are gone from the internal storage instead of duplicated on the SD card.

In the future, remember - backups, backups, backups!

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

A very slim chance, since it only recovers deleted files from a supported filesystem. The PC won't recognize the SD card, so Recuva can't access it.

Download PhotoRec, burn it to a disk, mount the SD card in a card reader and plug it into a PC and boot the PC with the disk you burned.

PhotoRec recovers data, not files from filesystems. If a block of data looks like a jpg file, it'll recover a jpg file. (You'll lose the names, because they're in the filesystem, which seems to have disappeared.) If PhotoRec can't recover data, it's not there to be recovered. (Not bad for the best file recovery program ever conceived, and free too.)

In the future, copy, don't move. If the copy was successful, delete the original.

The files are still on the phone, but you can't recover files from an unrooted phone, so you'd have to root it, then install an app like DiskDigger (the free version will recover picture files only). The problem is that writing to the phone's storage - which both rooting and installing an app do - can overwrite some of the files you're trying to recover.

I normally copy and paste but this time I just moved everything over. Big mistake. All my pics are on that sd card. I lost my music as well. That's not that big of a deal. The pics matter most to me. I did try Dr Fone and it did nothing since my card is reading "blank". I will try the PhotoRec and hope for the best.

I was moving my files so I could back them up. I know I should back them up as I go. I had been putting it off and forgetting. This morning I was up early and thought... I'd go ahead and get 'er done. Welp... I would have been better off not doing anything. I would have had all of my pics, music and videos. (sighs). :(
