Transferring Text Messages

I recently got the samsung galaxy S4. When i tried to transfer my texts over from my iphone it took so incredibly long so i manually force stopped the transfer. However, now i notice the phone running very slow when i open up messages and if i restart the phone, the messages transfer begins all over again. Is there any way i can permanently stop the transfer?
